I got Pokemon Blue at a garage sale and tried to play it - I really did - but I didn't enjoy it at all. Seems like breeding was the only interesting thing about the game, and it's done better elsewhere.

Red version was my main squeeze back in the day, but I pretty much abandoned the series after that.
Started playing Pokemon Ruby on my PSP just last month, I've been enjoying that a sh*t ton so far.
So ready for POkemon X to take over my 3DS XL this October. Will be playing SMT IV 'till then.

Great thread!
I cant get into Zelda! And frankly dont like it at all. I didnt grow up with it so that may be the problem. I have literally tried to play them all and 5 mins in I am looking around at my other games...one things leads to another haha.
I love story driven games! I hate mindless stuff like Serious Sam etc.
I like playing COD with close friends but hate 90% of the player base that thinks they are "hardcore gamers" because they are level 10 prestige and play 6 hours a night.
N64 Controller is worst controller ever. (That I have used. Very few I haven't)
New Rainbow Six games suck.
I dont like Starcraft 2.
Haha I could come up with more but that will do for now.

Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
Pokemon is interesting because when it came out it felt like a fad that would die out in like a year or two, but it didn't....it just kept going. I think I kept expecting it to die out, and when it didn't, I moved by myself because I felt so over-saturated with Pokemon paraphernalia.
That's not to say I don't like the games or anything. I played Red a ton and then Yellow back in the day, but past that when they started adding more and more Pokemon, I just lost interest and moved on.

As a kid, I loved the Pokemon GB games, didn't care one bit for the card game. We didn't get the channel the cartoon came on here, but I thought it was cool that it even existed, what being based on a video game property and all.
I didn't play anything after Crystal Version, but truth be told that was more because my Game Boy Advance kept getting stolen before I could build up much of a library for it.

Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
Regarding the Mass Effect 2 discussion: It is incredibly overhyped, and it honestly shocks me that most people consider it their favorite in the series (my sincere apologies to my best friend if she's reading this, but this thread is supposed to be harsh!). They improved the combat system from the original, but every other aspect suffered: they wrote several recurrent characters with a breathtaking lack of internal understanding or consistency; they ruined the Big Bad; they introduced a ridiculous plot straight out of a B horror movie that adds absolutely no development to the story arc; the writers got aggravatingly heavy-handed in promoting certain characters over others; and in general the game tried way too hard to be dark and edgy. Sometimes I feel that if Mass Effect 2 were personified, it would be a fifteen-year-old trying to fit in with the Cool Kids on the smokers' corner by means of ridiculous, ineffective posturing. I feel embarrassed for that kid. And we were such good friends before high school! How could we drift so far apart?! /extended metaphor
This is the title that gave us The Illusive Man, and I can never forgive it. But it is also the game that gave us Mordin and Kal'Reegar... so it can't be said that it doesn't earn points in certain significant, if isolated, ways.
Regarding Pokémon and age: I consider Pokémon to be a bigger part of my grown-up life than childhood, and here's why. I was about thirteen when it hit the States, and like others have noted, it was a huge deal among my friends. Although I played the heck out of Red (and the mini-games in my friends' copy of Pokémon Stadium), I never played any subsequent versions for another eight years. I'd been avoiding the post-original titles as one of those "more than 151 pokémon is STUPID!" purists, but when I bought Pokémon Gold on a whim in college eight years later -- which was about six years beyond the games' original release date -- I realized how I'd misjudged my enjoyment of the series, and how much I'd been missing. Since every pokémon game I've played with the exception of Red was a game I played beyond the age of 20, I'd say the appeal can have much less to do with age than people think.

Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
I hate western RPGs. I have never been able to get into one, ever. The entire genre just seems to rub me the wrong way.
