Been lurking a few months after I discovered this site when looking for an S-video cable for my N64. Finally decided to register. Little background info on me:

My first console was an Atari 5200 that my parents purchased mainly for my older sister when I was three (Those joysticks were awful!). Been hooked ever since. Over the years I have owned a NES, SNES, N64, Wii, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, DSi, Game Gear, PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP, and Xbox. Sadly I sold the NES, SNES, and Game Gear to fund purchases for my PS1 back in the day. Its something that I have regretted for a long time and I hope to replace them some day.

I took a long break from consoles around 2003 to play Everquest and eventually moved on to WoW. I quit WoW a little over a year ago after my son was born and have been getting back into console gaming as time allows.

RPG is my favorite genre by far but I also enjoy fighters, platformers, FPS, and survival horror. Recently I have been picking up RPGs from the PS1 era that I missed out on. Once I get through those I am thinking about picking up a NES, SNES, Genesis/CD/32X.

I hope I can add something to this great community. Thanks!

Hello all!

I'm 31, married, and have a 22 month old son and an ornery cat.

If I had to choose my favorite genre I would say 2D platformers, although I play some 2D shumps and RPGs.

My personal gaming highlights include:

Dragon Warrior III (NES), probably the game that really began my obsession. I loved the whole package, the huge manual, map, item guide, and beastiary.

Beyond Oasis, purchased a Genesis and the game because of an EGM (I think) preview, and yes, I loved it.

Final Fantasy VII, for my 18th birthday my girlfriend at the time got me a PS1 and a copy of the game with strat guide. As far as console gaming goes, it is my most played game.

Any game my wife has bought me!

I enjoy reading and if anyone has a suggestion for me about video gaming history I'll gladly take it (did I miss a thread?).

I'm not a huge fan of the direction the industry is going, DLC/downloading games kinda turns me off. I'm a physical media guy.

Anyway, enough about me, let's talk gaming!

You know, I'm not new by any means. However, I feel that I should probably introduce myself. I'd really like to become friends with my fellow racketeers and this seems like it may help. I have a good back and fourth with some of you from a buyer/seller standpoint but nothing more. Alright, here we go!

My name is Kris (actually just found out my legal full name isn't Kristopher, but Kristoph. Kind of awesome). I'm 21 and have lived in a small central NY town for my entire life. I've always been a retro gamer but wasn't able to collect until I was making my own money because my family felt that buying old games was a waste due to their being old. My original collection that was built throughout my teenage years is no more, it was sold because of some financial trouble. It spanned over 10 different consoles and over 200 mostly uncommon games. I've been trying to rebuild for a while but I have a turbulent home life that has been hindering progress for some time now. I was a pharmacy technician for 3 years and now I clean cars for Enterprise Rent-A-Car. I know that seems like a downgrade but they will be able to transfer me to Richmond, VA which is where I plan to get my life back on track (Going to go to school, finally :)). Outside of gaming I enjoy classic cartoons (90's and older, usually), Anime (Cowboy Bebop is my favorite), drawing (again, cartoons), comics (Moon Knight FTW!), collecting vinyl records, and collecting anything related to the Ninja Turtles (original '84 comics are the best).

Currently I have an Atari 5200 (I just love it. It's unconditional) and a PS2. I have plans to rebuild my classic collection and get a 360, Wii and 3DS when I get set up in VA. My favorite console is probably either the SNES or Saturn but it really depends on what I'm into at the time. Sonic the hedgehog is my favorite series. I have stuck with him through thick and very VERY thin (The black Knight... ugh) and don't plan to give up on him any time soon. Finally, Retro gaming will always be king. I don't hate or discriminate against the new games but I will always love the classics (and the obscure in particular) even more.

Cheers, friends. :D

I'm Erik. First started gaming on the NES as soon as I could hold a controller. I'm not sure why we had 2 NES consoles considering my parents were never into games or computers or anything geeky.

Big fan of the 16-bit to 32-bit eras. Also a big anime fan. I go to a lot of cons and cosplay. Not sure what else to say. :D
