GamersGate.com is having a sale on Mass Effect Trilogy for $8, so I figured I'd make an account and buy it. I typed in my username (I use the same one on nearly every website) and to my surprise it said "username already used." I couldn't believe someone had taken a name that I made up myself, so I tried logging in on the off-chance I already had an account... which I did. According to my profile I made it June last year. I have absolutely no recollection of ever doing that.

Also I bought two games with that account: Chronicles of Riddick and Volvo The Game, so I guess that's like finding change in between your couch cushions. As much as I like finding out I have more games than I thought, it's a bit discomforting to see myself slowing turning into my mom.

It's not so bad, it's not like those were physical games. I remember every physical game I own, but I'm constantly forgetting what games I have (or don't have) in my Steam/Origin catalog.

What is the reason behind movies that gets low ratings but high rent/dvd sales? Its not unusual to find a low rated movie but it sold a lot in DVD and rent. I understand stuff like Scary Movie but this happens to a huge range of movies.

And since this is random thoughts,
What are the best seasons for South Park. For something that has been on for 17 years I am sure it had its ups and downs. I didn't get to see much of it back in its heyday ( "98" ), because the world was not as "global" ordering stuff from America was damn difficult.

The 7th and 8th seasons are my personal favorites. All of them have at least a few classic episodes, however.

Chances are you can check out for yourself (assuming the site doesn't have country restrictions) at southparkstudios.com They're only missing a handful of episodes because they've been, essentially "banned" and are only available on home release sets. The majority of it has been recaptured from source, it appears (and is in HD) and most of it is uncensored.

Personally, I think the funniest stuff from the show is ~2005-2012. But as prfsnl_gmr said, every season has at least one "great" episode.

Season 3 is when the show first started to transition away from the "here's kids swearing doing crazy things" to the more "let's satire current events" style. I think Season 4 is when the show started to really hit its stride. So I'd say start with 3/4 and go from there.

Some things aren't appreciated in their time. Blade Runner did poorly at the box office, but many people that are into Science Fiction like the movie and few can deny its influence on the cyberpunk ethic in later stories and visuals. Sometimes studio pressures mean that theatrical releases of movies are edited and gimped poorly. The theatrical release of Blade Runner had really dumb voice overs added and Harrison Ford clearly wasn't into putting effort into their recordings. The later director's cut releases fixed this and the movie is much better for them, though there are other changes too. Terry Gilliam's Brazil had the same issue a few years later. It happens to TV shows too. Firefly was messed up by Fox by not starting with the first episode that introduced everyone, was apparently in a terrible time slot, and was killed off quickly. It was popular enough in DVD release that fans spoke up and the Serenity movie happened.

Some movies and things also don't make it to many theaters because of distribution, being 'too indie', or because of ratings issues. Disc releases can reach a larger market than the movie theater run can.
