Currently I'm playing through F.E.A.R.: Extraction Point. I just made it through the subway tunnels to get to the hospital, which I believe puts me at about 2/3 of the way through. I beat F.E.A.R. years ago, but I'm only just now getting around to the two expansions for it. After I get through this, it's on to Perseus Mandate.
I tend to favor the assault rifle and shotgun for my weapon loadout, though I will change out the assault rifle with other weapons as needed. I particularly like the minigun and laser cannon, but I don't see enough of them to keep them for any real period of time. The penetrator helped a lot with the miniboss around the halfway mark, but that's about the only time I've had enough ammo to make it really worthwhile. For grenades, I tend to stick to frags unless I need to take down a large group or something big.
I had forgotten this, but F.E.A.R. always felt like I was playing Ghost Squad as an FPS for some reason.
What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One.
Surprisingly my all time favorite Call of Duty up until 4 came out.

Which system? I found that to be highly enjoyable, and the voice actors consisted mainly of those who were in the Band of Brothers miniseries. I played it on Gamecube.Sam_P wrote:Call of Duty 2: Big Red One.

Playstation 2. I never did play any FPS' on the short time I had a Gamecube, though I must admit, I was never a huge fan of any first person shooters up until I got my hands on an Xbox 360.ExedExes wrote:Which system? Can't do better than the PS2 for (6th gen) console FPS experiences. They had the most games of this type, anyway. This almost makes me want to play COD2 again, but then I reminded of the one level where you're clearing bunkers and get really bad checkpoints during it.Sam_P wrote:Playstation 2. I remember which level you're on about, thankfully I've not reached it yet!ExedExes wrote:Can't do better than the PS2 for (6th gen) console FPS experiences. That's how you're supposed to do a last-gen version of a current-gen game, vs just making the graphics terrible and scaling the levels down.Sam_P wrote:Call of Duty 2: Big Red One.

Yeah I was really surprised with how good console COD2 was (I beat PC COD2 earlier this year). It's like its own game, and you also get to use Italian and French weapons too, not many WWII FPS had that. The tank levels are fun too.BoringSupreez wrote:That's how you're supposed to do a last-gen version of a current-gen game, vs just making the graphics terrible and scaling the levels down.Sam_P wrote:Call of Duty 2: Big Red One.

I beat F.E.A.R. Extraction Point earlier today and moved into Perseus Mandate. I may wait to post my thoughts on these together, I'm not sure yet. Either way, it's nice to relax with an FPS from time to time.

I'll be interested to see what you think of Perseus Mandate; I personally enjoyed it more than Extraction Point.
