Random Gaming Thoughts
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
The last boss in Ghostbusters for SMS is making me crazy. I feel like he's not actually THAT hard, but I die super quickly and it takes time to get back to him. The rest of the game is so easy and I've built up so much money that I can just start the game and walk away for 10 minutes to re-start at the later portion. BUT I JUST WANT TO KEEP PLAYING AGAINST THE BOSS. I wish I had a health-bar for my characters or something instead of one-hit kills!

Yeah it's kind of brutal but you can cheese it in a way that seems counter-intuitive. Stand near the top and just keep blasting. You can stun-lock Gozer which also prevents all the bullet-hell stuff from happening and that's it.Nemoide wrote:The last boss in Ghostbusters for SMS is making me crazy. The ending is just as lame as the NES version but you can continue on with your cash to buy the better stuff though it's not really worth it. The fastest car is pretty much uncontrollable.

...and of course immediately after posting about my frustration, I BEAT THE GAME.

I can't say that it's entirely a good game, but it was fun enough for a little while.

It's definitely one of the best versions of the original David Crane game but that's not saying a whole lot. The earliest versions in 1984 were certainly ambitious.Nemoide wrote:...and of course immediately after posting about my frustration, I BEAT THE GAME.

I can't find Ecto Cooler anywhere. I've just given up.

Picked up Hyrule Warriors today and man! This is awesome! Reminds me why I use to love mashing the square button on my ps2 controllers to Dynasty Warriors 3 and 4.

I gotta start playing that again.strangenova wrote:Picked up Hyrule Warriors today and man! This is awesome! Reminds me why I use to love mashing the square button on my ps2 controllers to Dynasty Warriors 3 and 4.
Of course, I'm going to be torn between "I want to get all the new updates" and "I want to keep my WiiU offline/un-updated in case of future hax".

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I'm still skeptical because I'm not a huge fan of Dynasty Warriors games (which is weird because I love sidescrolling beat em' ups, which are just pure button mashing as well). I also gave both one of the Gundam Warriors games a shot and the Fist of the Northstar one, since I'm a fan of those series... and even then they still didn't hook me in. The Zelda coat of paint for Hyrule Warriors looks amazing though as it's one of my favorite series ever...
What do you guys think? Is it different enough from the DW norm? Would a non DW fan but huge fan of Zelda maybe like this one?

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
It's a nice combo of DW and Zelda. It's definitely not just a model swap -- you're using all of the sub-weapons as the sub-weapons for one. That was probably the biggest thing that stuck out to me. And the bosses aren't the same as DW, you actually have to use Zelda tactics on them. And then there's the various challenges and whatnot that do feel like Zelda more than DW to me.
Note: I've played maybe an hour or two of DW8 at my buddy's, but otherwise haven't really played heavily since DW4XL, so maybe they've changed since then, I dunno.

I guess I'll keep an eye out for it at stores, maybe I'll stumble upon a sale or something. It looks like it's going to keep that $50-60 price point forever online, like most of Nintendo's first party stuff. I'd definitely give it a shot at $20-30 or something.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I doubt you'll find it that cheap (though they might make it a Nintendo Select title to encourage some end-of-life Wii U adoption), but if you have a New 3DS, don't write off Hyrule Warriors Legends. It plays extremely well as long as you're not trying to use a 2DS or original 3DS, and is the same game plus some extra content.Xeogred wrote:I guess I'll keep an eye out for it at stores, maybe I'll stumble upon a sale or something.
