What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Not to disparage you Lukie-poo, but since when is Bryan Singer a "genius"? I mean I like several of his movies, but...

I saw The Wolf of Wall Street recently. It was the Scorsesiest film that Scorsese has ever Scorsesied. In other words, it is as over the top as my previous sentence. The main character is introduced by showing him snort coke out of a hooker's ass, If that gives you a better picture of what this movie is like. I am still not sure if I can say I liked it, but I was never bored and I can't stop thinking about it (even when I want to). Oddly, also the funniest Scorsese movie I have seen.

Would you agree with my assessment that Marty saying "WOLF is nothing like GOODFELLAS" is nonsense? Isn't Hill's character sort of like Pesci's? Isn't Leo's character a bit like Ray's? Doesn't the story arcs depict the rise of an empire, it's downfall, and redemption? Isn't there excessive sex, drug use, and foul language? Aren't there voice overs?J T wrote:I saw The Wolf of Wall Street recently. It was the Scorsesiest film that Scorsese has ever Scorsesied.
I think WOLF is excellent, but I also think I've seen the same movie by Marty done over and over and over again.

Starting to seem like a one-off from where I sit. I like the heck out of X-Men 1 & 2 and even Apt Pupil, but I've not seen anything to further back up him being amazing after The Usual Suspects. That's like 20 years ago, doesn't he need to have a follow-up genius movie to maintain the title?Luke wrote:Since THE USUAL SUSPECTS.Stark wrote:Not to disparage you Lukie-poo, but since when is Bryan Singer a "genius"?

That's a valid question.Stark wrote: That's like 20 years ago, doesn't he need to have a follow-up genius movie to maintain the title?
Creatively and visually, he's been consistently impressive. Throw in the fact that he works with the higher ups of Hollywood and has had a job for over twenty years is also exceptional.
EDIT* Better than the MATRIX II and MATRIX III combined.

I just watched Raiders of the Lost Ark again. I've had an itch to watch a Jones film ever since I got LEGO Indiana Jones a week ago. I can't believe that move got a "PG" rating. If it were released today it would have gotten a "R" for sure.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?

Just... WONDERFUL! INCREDIBLE!
One of the best films I've seen in ages.
Basically, the story, which is a more in-depth version of the one told by the album of the same name, follows a dying composer named Tom who, on his deathbed, revisits his youth, albeit in a more twisted and often nightmarish light.
Here, in this deathbed dream, his past is told in metaphors and riddles as he chases after memories of his childhood while eluding a wicked creature who takes the form of a snowman and seeks to hinder his goal.
Meanwhile, in the real world, his adult daughter Gem deals with her father's condition and resents her father for never being there for her and her mother, despite the objections of Tom's old bandmate Ann.
But soon, Gem discovers the truth she didn't know about her father as he tries to rediscover what he's lost.
Easily this film is set to be one of the great fantasy films of all-time, though naturally one might think twice about letting the kids watch this.

An otherwise reliable movie website is really starting to tick me off by spreading rumors that they know to be untrue. Why? Another reason I'm ticked off with them, they're doing it for traffic alone.
Like some clowns add #JustinBeiber to attract more views to their twitter account, these guys are doing it with completely made up rumors about upcoming super-hero movies. For shame.
If you guess the website correctly, I will say si.
