I've got the guilt after watching 12 Years a Slave.
It's obviously a very powerful and brutal watch with some great performances, especially from Chiwetel Ejiofor as the lead and Lupita Nyong'o as Patsey. There's maybe one or two bits that are over-directed as it were, the camera is a bit too obvious and lingers when it should move on, which breaks into the emotion the film has been building. Fassbender's plantation owner occasionally veers into pantomime villain territory at times as well. But it's a film that will linger in my mind.

Ninja Turtles are in the realm of Friday the 13th for me. Meaning, if you make a movie based on these franchises I'll probably go see it at the theater twice.
EDIT: And if you cast LiLo in it, I'll be there waiting when the theater opens.

What if the tattooed turtle also sported jorts and necklaces?noiseredux wrote:co-sign.Stark wrote:Need? No.Luke wrote:Do ninja turtles need tattoos?

LiLo as April would be the best casting decision ever. Her in some American Apparel yellow hoodies and slouch pants.
Dear God how great that would be.

The internet form of humor about rape is generally more in line with what you have listed as "the wrong way" in your post. I mostly agree, although I do think that taking it to a crass and extremely offensive level like that can get me to smile if they do it right. It probably says some bad things about me, but then again I've been know to have a pretty twisted sense of humor. But I think things that would have been seen in a more questionable light when it comes to whether or not something is rape is getting to be a really skewed line. Listen to a lot of music for example, even in pop and stuff its getting ridiculous. "Redneck Crazy", a shitty pop song, comes off that way to me in many ways, although not directly.Luke wrote: I honestly wouldn't know how to respond to your question. I'm on one internet forum, this one. I don't read comments on youtube, I don't "surf" the net, and I typically only use the net for business.
But as far as movies and comedy go, nothing is really out of bounds, but that doesn't mean it's always handled well.

Simulated sex I'm fine with. Actors or actresses actually getting paid to have sex (Brown Bunny) makes me a bit sick. Totally cool with porn, not cool with non-porn people performing sex in a motion picture. For some reason I don't find porn degrading, but sex in movies turns my stomach. I see zero reason for it.
I don't see the issue with sex in movies, whether real or simulated honestly. If they consent to it and aren't forced through contract or some such I can't honestly say I have an issue with it. I would argue that a large amount of porn is much more degrading than movie sex, because a lot of movie sex (from what I've seen) tends to be more aimed at appearing sensual or realistic, whereas porn is about being as sexually explicit as possible, and with the fetishes and kinks and such now I tend to find it pretty degrading overall. (Facials, rough sex, gagging, anal, yadda yadda.) Not that I really care either way when I'm trying to get off.

Saw Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit. Was actually impressed. If you like the Bourne trilogy, you'd dig it.

Battle Royale in Japanese with English subtitles. Far superior to Hunger Games IMO

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Damn straight, man. The Hunger Games is a silly cartoon while Battle Royale is a gritty battle to the death.
I've been lazy and haven't been posting here lately so I have three movies below:
Black Sabbath:

This film is an anthology comprised of three stories: The Drop of Water, The Telephone, and The Wurdalak. The Drop of Water was alright with a decent death for the main character. The Telephone kinda sucked since it was heavily altered from the Italian original, which sounds much cooler. The Wurdalak was also alright and also suffered from alteration, but not as much as The Telephone. The main alteration was the removal of any violence. While it might sound like a nitpick, I honestly found the lack of violence deprived the segment of any gravity. You'll see a character one moment and then the next moment they're covered in blood. It felt fake.
All in all, I think I'll be looking for the Italian version of this film to see how these stories fair unneutered.
Star Wars (Despecialized Edition):

Now, I know nearly everyone on this forum has seen Stars Wars so I'll just focus on the Despecialized Edition. This edition is fantastic! While there are some parts where the film seems grainy, (i.e. the C-3PO and R2D2 scenes on Tatooine) most of the film looks great! The audio seems to be given favorable treatment as well, though without a surround sound system I can't say definitively. What I can definitively say is that this restoration is a labor of love and all Star Wars fans should track it down.
The Toxic Avenger:

Like with Pumpkinhead II, I have to say that this film sucks so good. It's absolutely hilarious in its trashiness. Everyone in this film is an over-the-top piece of shit and I love seeing them onscreen.
