Yeah...the legend has been adapted numerous times, but I am referring to this film that is available for streaming on Hulu+.Ack wrote: Quote unquote original, heheh.

I'm hoping that Ronin is good.

Yay for cultural appropriation!
Not really. I expect this to be awful.

It won't. I think it's going to manage to outdo Starship Troopers by being even LESS based on the source material.SamuraiMegas wrote:I'm hoping that Ronin is good.

47 RONIN
Two hours of convoluted cgi starring an actor that has the screen presence of a donut. But I enjoyed it.
Adrenaline junkies and action buffs are going to eat this up and ask for seconds. Not sure about the source material as I went in blind, but RONIN is epic in scale. It's almost like LOTR and MORTAL KOMBAT had a love child. The "sets" are absolutely eye popping, and action nearly non-stop. I don't like getting lost in the action, but for what they pulled off, it would be impossible not to.
If I had to predict the rottentomatoes rating, I'd say it will hover around the mid-70s. But keep in mind that I also think the "audience liked it" rating will be near 90% as it will have a strong fan base.
So if you are a RONIN purist, I don't know what to tell you. But if you are naive to the story such as I am, RONIN is an enjoyable adventure of a film.

I'll have to use blue text next time.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I just got back from Anchorman 2. All you need to know about the movie is it's a sequel to Anchorman and it has the ghost of Stonewall Jackson.

When Trumpets Fade
Pretty good for a low-budget HBO production. I hope John Irvin does more WWII films.

So if I've watched one of the various trailers I saved myself twelve bucks?MrPopo wrote:All you need to know about the movie is it's a sequel to Anchorman and it has the ghost of Stonewall Jackson.

I made it thirty seconds into MY BOSS'S DAUGHTER before turning it off.
If you set a movie in an iconic city, you might want to do a little research. It's the L, not the subway. And if you are going to use the L in your movie, don't use a generic train, use an actual L Train. Plus it's Clark/Lake, and it's not only a Blue Line stop.
Not picking nits, this stuff is pretty absurd and obvious if you've only just visited downtown Chicago. It's like showing the Chrysler building with the caption "Empire State Building".
