Yeah, It is pretty variable. I know some high schools start after Labor Day (early September). I know if/when we got a lot of snow days we'd sometimes get close to a July dismissal. It's even more variable at the college level...

John, what kind of cruel Texas school sends their students into a classroom for the bulk of that oppressive August heat? Shouldn't they be one of the "start as late as possible" states?
There is some reasoning for it I recall hearing but don't remember why. Classrooms are air conditioned. It is nearly as hot in sept do I dont think it matters much.

I know that a lot of places further up north don't really use air conditioning, but I don't really know if that applies in Pennsylvania. Might be the cause for confusion, but I don't know. I do know that all the guys from my school are hating 2-A-Days for football right now because of the heat. Screw that.

But of course, seeing as I've lived down here all my life, I'm a person who can walk around in 100 degree plus Fahrenheit weather wearing jeans and a western shirt with the sleeves rolled up.

I think its just kind of a thing of how you were raised, I never even owned a pair of shorts until I got some for athletics when I was 12 or 13. I still feel under dressed going anywhere wearing shorts, and my legs are ghostly white. And I'm a guy who sweats band, but I still wear some hot ass clothing options considering.

I was only in Texas for about 5 months and I got used enough to the weather that 90 didn't even feel hot anymore.

:D : Plans to meet up with my friend next Monday.

:? : It should not be this difficult to perform a simple video file conversion. Really now program, is it that hard to tell me what formats you support? It's starting to piss me off.

:D: The county prosecutor office just offered me an internship. Hadn't found one on my own yet and they ended up contacting me themselves  . I start next Monday.

Were you on a watch list? Are they just trying to keep you off the streets?

Seriously, though, congratulations on the internship! I spent some time in a public defender's office, and it was a very interesting, eye-opening experience. I hope that you enjoy it, and you will get some great experience if you are considering a career in either law or law enforcement.

My adviser is a prosecutor so she probably dropped my contact info on a friends desk :).

Also:

:) Got my Kickstarter reward for the "YOU Are the Maniac!" campaign, which is a copy of the game.

:( But since I opened it, it's "First Edition" status means nothing.

 And I have no one to play it with.

:( Grandma's health has been pretty bad since she's moved down here. She can't seem to get any help from the doctors down here so she's going back to the Outer Banks to talk to her old doctors up there.

:) Got over 30 hours at work last week, so I should have a pretty good paycheck this week.

:( Back on Saturday I had to spend the last half of my shift (which was around 6ish to 9:30) in charge of cleaning the men's room at Main Change, which is the largest bathroom in the park AND it's also the main changing area. It's located right in village after you enter the park. We close at 8, and I pretty much had to wait until all the guests left the area and by that extension the park before I could actually do any real cleaning. And by then it was around 15-20 minutes until 9. Why? Because it literally felt that after the park closed at 8 that during that 40-45 minutes, that the male Main Change was literally more human feet than square feet. So pretty much all I could really do is pick up trash off the floor with my picker and make sure it doesn't look REALLY bad.

 But imagine my relief when I was told I wouldn't have to mop the floors!
