I did a clean install on my main PC not too long ago, but didn't change any hardware (I did upgrade to a GTX1080 shortly before doing so though). Simply saying I'd put a serial in later/etc resulted in it being activated once everything got set up.
I changed my Mobo, CPU, RAM (to Z170, Skylake and DDR4), reinstalled windows, did the same thing and Windows 10 was activated by the time I was on my desktop.

I had issues in the past with Windows 8/8.1, where I had to call them every time I changed some pieces of hardware, however since using Windows 10, I have had zero issues with activation.

Would anyone here be interested in a benchmark thread? We can compare scores on CPU's GPU, etc, to help each other know where things sit for future upgrades as well as giving some drive to do a bit of overclocking.

Not sure how many people would be interested or which benchmarks people prefer (example, maybe 3DMark/Unigine Heaven for GPU, Cinebench R15 for CUP's).

If you have any interest let me know and I will create a thread with links to free benchmakrs, etc and we can get a thread going, if there is no interested (which I am not sure on the community's interest, hence this post) no harm, no foul.

I'm not sure if I would participate my own PC's benchmarks, but I wouldn't mind a thread like that. At the very least, I would read it.

Ok, so it seemed that the HD was the issue... but I kept all the upgrades anyway. Here is what I now have:
NEW
GPU: GTX 980
CPU: AMD FX 6300 (not much of an improvement from my 6100, but for the price and limited 95w choices, I am happy)
RAM: 16gb Corsair Vengeance Pro
HD: Seagate Firecuda 2TB Hybrid SSHD

OLD
PSU 700W
MB: GIGABYTE GA-M68MT-S2P

Next upgrade will be a new processor and motherboard... but not for a while.

How much did you sink into the GTX 980?

$270 NIVIDA brand on clearance (bestbuy.com).
I read the reviews and comparisons and found that on most games the 980 out performed the 1060. With the 1060 not in stock and the 980 still costing $4-500 I jumped on the deal.

Great price to pay for the GTX980, other than the 6GB framebuffer, there is not real reason to pick up a GTX1060 over the 980, at that price you can not go wrong.

They trade blows with one another, the 980 tends to come out on top in most cases, but only by a few frames and the GTX1060 has 50% more VRAM. So it is a modest tradeoff for the extra VRAM.
