Post by Anapan »

I Just got a couple more of these Thursday and Friday. The USA/Canada border is kinda crappy for packages coming this way. I was gonna wait till the last one came in but it's cutoff time. I'm sure it will arrive. I'm leaving positive feedback for everyone involved after this is posted.

IBM Thinkpad 380XD - Thanks sevin0seven - this was packaged so well, and sent first class. Must've cost a fortune so all I can say is it's well appreciated. I installed the max 64MB ram upgrade and installed Windows 98 Lite with the 95 Explorer shell. It runs like greased lightning. I then transferred around 800 MB of dos games and tweaked the registry and dos shell setup for maximum dos enjoyment. I've so-far beaten X-COM UFO Defense, X-COM Terror From The Deep and finally after 18 years beaten Ragnarok - the one Roguelike that has constantly kicked my ass since I first installed in in my 486-DX33 Mhx machine back in early highschool. I've spent so many hours on this laptop, the batteries died in 3 other devices that I left unplugged while I was engrossed in these dos games. For example my phone died for 2 days last week and I didn't even notice. I love it! I'm going to install X-COM Apocalypse on it tomorrow.
Thanks again!

Starfox Adventures - pakopako - We still have Jim Carrey in spirit. I didn't realize it wasn't a flight combat game, but I will definitely give it a fair chance when I get through some other games. I just got it and haven't tried it yet.

25 games in one "System". Generic games. Atari graphics. Worth a laugh - I was really hoping for Atari graphics, but actually this seems to be a Genesis-on-a-chip with some really well made clones of some great nintendo-era games - they share music mostly, but a few are pretty impressive I spent a several hours going through the game list and am pleasantly surprised at the time spent making these pirate-like clones. There's clones of Quarth, Burger Time (sorta), Digdug, Goonies, Sanrio Smash Ball, Mach Rider, Pipe Maze, and a few variations of Sokoban in with other puzzle-type originals thrown in. It reminds me of the golden-age of Gameboy with the enhanced sound and graphics of a Sega Genesis. I'll be spending some more time with a few of these and didn't expect to find that level of quality in a P&P. This is the best Plug&Play I ever played aside from my Atari Flashback II.

PS One AV connection cable - factory sealed, for recording video - Works great. I have a few devices that are compatible with the V/A headphone jack AIO. I tried it with my Dingoo A320, and if pulled out a few MM it makes a perfect-albeit-touchy connection. Awesome.

Nikon Coolpix 2500 - Thanks skyknight, my mom wanted this one. We both already have better cameras but she's been using it a lot. She loves that it takes pictures at the right size for emailing without manually resizing them, so she uses it more than her other camera now. She's also experimented with it's legendary night picture mode with great success. She finally got a decent picture of the massive barn owl that perches on the telephone line outside her driveway. It was a steal at that price and she says "thanks".

Metroid Other M - just got it on friday. Haven't unwrapped it yet, but I'm going to give it a good play through despite negative comments all around. It's gotta be a decent game. I just have to keep in mind that it's not really Samus, and the plot is not Metroid cannon. The subject matter is just a way to combine a good 3D Platformer combined FPS into a franchise selling point. It will be fun. I will enjoy it.

Edit:
I've now left feedback for everyone I could discern the usernames of who were involved. If someone wants feedback that didn't get it just let me know and I'll be happy to oblige.

Thank you everyone! Another great community-driven charity. I look forward to doing it again next year!

I was planning to make today the last day to request refunds/report problems with any items - but if Anapan just received something Friday maybe I should wait a few more days to institute a cutoff in case some items may still be en route? End of the month? Thoughts? I know some shippers JUST shipped in the past week or two...is anyone still expecting something? Wondering where something is?

Good luck getting people to answer you. I got 2 responses from the 9 items I've sent.

It is sort of a "speak now or forever hold your peace" deal regarding refunds. People aren't required to leave feedback, which is I think what you were asking...

Did you receive your pin? I am especially concerned that all items shipped internationally may not have yet arrived.

I'm still waiting on one item, but I've already talked with the sender and things are peachy. I'd say you should cut us off. Lets get that money out to some kids.

Ok, unless I hear a compelling case by the end of the day to leave it open longer, I will move forward with the business of ending the auction for the year! Seems like the bigger auction has taken us about an extra month to finish, which I suppose isn't so bad. Last year I had a check to the charities by the end of January, it looks like this year it will probably be by the end of February. At least we have a good nine months or so until we need to start gearing up for the 2011 version!

Fixed that for you, chief.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Well, I was asking more if they actually received the item, and then asking for feedback. I still only got 4 answers (forgot about the guy I had trouble with the name, and Flake who traded with me at the same time, and confirmed receiving the item in on of our trade related pms). 3 of them left feedback (thanks guys :D ), so that still leaves 5 people who haven't said anything at all.
