I played The Granstream Saga a couple of years ago. It's an interesting action RPG that feels like a mixture of Dark Souls and a 1-vs-1 Fighting game when it comes to the combat. It wasn't great, but it is an interesting game that you may want to look into.
It's not like an insane amount or super hard to find as other really expensive NES games, but it is fairly rare. It's more based on the Atari Tetris Arcade Cabinet that they made. But, yes, it does have 2 Player Head to Head, which is very interesting and unique as the NES version did not. It also has 2 Player Co-Op, where I think one player places a piece and then the second player places the next piece. Hey Bone and Markies, thanks both for the tip about about The Granstream Saga. This game looks pretty fun, I enjoy RPGs with action elements and the battle system here looks unique. I'd like to check it out for sure.
Markies, I didn't realize there was also a two-player co-op mode on the cart as well, that's pretty awesome. Hope you enjoy some two player Tetris soon!
