But they did in DeS with the boss after the man eater, he summons another payer in the area as the boss. Hell in DaS they even added npc invasions. And now in DaS 2 they made it so you can be invaded while hollow and still have npc invasions. PvP has always been one of the main pillars of the series since day one. It is definitely the main reason I continue to recommend the series to people because it gives the game a huge amount of unpredictability.

But besides all that has anyone put any time into ng+? I guess they really ramped up the difficulty and added a ton of other stuff like new mobs and some weapons you can only get in ng+. I'm getting pretty close to finishing with my mage build so I'm going to dabble in it a bit until I can get my grubby little spell casting hands on the moonlight great sword. There's a chance I might try to create new characters that I can mule the sword to by trading it just so I can get it all the way to a fresh character.

I was permanently hollow in Demon's Souls, so I can't speak to that. NPC invasions are something that I can at least stomach because they're not overpowered and can usually be fought in a straightforward manner. It's great that you enjoy PvP in this series, but I hate it.

I liked it in Dark Souls 2 because I probably took down 5 out of 6 invasions or something. Especially at the Bell Tower, I wasn't even bothering to do Covenant stuff until the end (for the Dragons), but I decided to hang out at the Bell Tower a bit because I found a perfect spot and was destroying invaders.

There was one guy that was real annoying in the Pharros ruins, he was up high and I tried going up a ladder and he had poison arrows. Finally, after hiding for a bit I was able to go up the ladder without him noticing and destroyed him. Felt good.

In replaying Dark Souls 1, the invaders were ALWAYS completely overpowered and it was literally just "lol may as well drop the controller now", very frustrating. I recall Demon's being the same experience myself actually, but I played that one later so it was probably just veterans hanging around for whatever reason.

I don't feel as if I'm very good at this game, but I had a similar experience with Bell Covenant, I've won most of the invasions at Belfry Luna I've encountered.

after reading some reviews, and hearing various talk of Dark Souls II on some podcasts (especially Idle Thumbs), I'm actually really interested in playing this one. Of course, I'll wait for a reasonable sale on Steam. But it sounds like a pretty great intro to the series.

This game is amazing dude. Once you get hooked, you're gonna lose a lotta hours. :)

I don't know that I would call it "amazing" but it's definitely good, and be prepared to put at least 60 hours into the game unless you plan on using a guide the whole way.

I would. I'd put it up there with X-COM as being one of the best games of the previous generation.
