Jake "virt" Kaufman: FX4

These are some excellent chiptune tracks with a lot of depth and complexity to the melodies. Kaufman has worked in the videogame music industry for some time and his credits include Shantae, Red Faction: Guerrilla, and Contra 4. With FX4, he has written a concept album for which he has written out a storyline, which you can also find in the link above. It details the struggle between warring nations fighting over a super weapon that has been lost beneath the sea.

13 minutes in, I'm not a fan or Inner Life, but the first 2 songs were nice. I don't recognize all of the titles in there, but if it picks back up after Goldie I'll probably look for a copy.

Inner City Life is one of my all time favorites. This mix is great. This is my favorite era of jungle/dnb. I like the early years when there was more rhythm variety and the drums were prominent over silky synth pads and smooth diva vocals with bass that was designed to bounce and cushion rather than rip the speakers apart. I love tech-step and neurofunk and all that too, but I really liked the early days of 4 Hero, Goldie, Omni Trio, LTJ Bukem, and Adam F. That's the quintessential jungle sound.

I just played some Unreal Tournament while listening to some great energetic and uplifting HHC tracks. It's one of the greatest feelings there is (WoW or any good online FPS is a good alternative) :)
CLSM - Heey
Hixxy, Dougal & Gammer - Phaze 2 Phaze
Scott Brown - Roll The Track
Vagabond - Ready for Chaos
S3RL - Neon Genesis
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

My issue with that track is it contains the kind of 'diva' vocals that I can't stand. Ah well. This disc is along the same lines. Artcore 3.

Ooh, speaking of old tech step, Dac has the old PFD stuff is back up on the interwebs. I lost touch with them, wonder if they'd even remember me. It is Johnny Dark's fault I first installed an IM client and I used to talk to him all the time. I even have my own pressed copy of More in Your Bassbox from them. Revient à l'Hopital is a bit more polished tech step where as the former is a bit more trackerish and experimental. I still think it is pretty great stuff for late 90s bedroom stuff.

I have some other stuff those guys threw together, but I see some on that page that I don't have and will need to check out. :)

I like the Techstep (and Neurofunk&Trancestep) samples in Ishkur's guide to electronic music but I never find songs like that when I search for DnB/listen to di.fm :(
