Nice scores guys! Stages 1-4 feel like a warmup compared to St 5. I played a few games tonight. Score is not great but I bombed my way to a 1-ALL.

Wow, very nice. I figured that playing for score probably WAS the best way to get a 1-ALL, but maybe not. What were your point totals like each level?

Nice Joe! I'll try for the all today - like Dsh said, scoring seems to coincide with best play style, but maybe saving up hypers for areas I typically absorb a hit could string out my health...killing midbosses faster, etc.

Here's where i'm at for each stage:

Area 1 - 519 mil hi, avg. 460-470mil, I don't see many more points available here
Area 2 - 1.1 bil hi, avg. 400-600mil. I've done a billion 3 or 4 times now and still feel like there were areas where my chain counter ran down more than it needed to. I bet 1.5bil is possible.
Area 3 - 1.2 bil hi, avg. 300-600 mil. This stage has a ton of potential and my score varies drastically here. Hard to say, but i'd gather if you chained start to finish and no damage through boss, maybe 3-4bil possible. I've had a chain of 2,200+ 2/3 of the way through, took a hit, had a chain of 600+ after hyper on the 1-up wheel, took a hit on the boss and hypered again at the end of that boss and finished him off with a 600 chain I'd have to say if you managed to chain through the entire stage, your looking at close to 7-8000? At least 3bil i'd have to think?
Area 4 - 1 bil hi, avg. 600-800mil. My best and most consistent area. I typically lose chains on midbosses from killing to fast, or trying to collect too many big stars while in hyper mode while spreadshooting, and get hit by a big lazer, survival seems pretty easy here. Again, prob 3bil possible all the way through / no damage.
Area 5 - 450mil hi, avg. 200-350mil. This is now pretty easy up until just after the midboss. Hard to say how many points possible. I can't imagine making it through w/o taking damage or bombing, the idea of a chain start to finish is crazy, but probably a 10K chain. I've had multiple chains of 1K in the same run, so stands to reason 10K is a pretty close number possible. Maybe 4-5bil on this area?

So my best, if I posted all my best scores together would be about 4.26bil, so a ton of room for improvement. So...a lot of fun left to be had

I'm sitting at these for averages I think -

Area 1 - usually 450-470million, over 500 once in a while, but rarely.

Area 2 - usually around 500-600 million, but a few good 700-800 million runs. I don't think I've hit a billion on this stage - that IS impressive

Area 3 - I probably average around 300-500million. I don't think I've done much better than 700 million on this one, but see a lot more possible (obviously)

Area 4 - average of about 500 million.

Area 5 - usually n more than 200-300 million if I am lucky.

I too see lots of points out there, but I often the risk is greater than the reward since I am also shooting for an eventual 1-ALL...

I really didn't pay attention to score at all. I don't think I saved the replay to see the level scores. I just tried to get to the fifth stage with as many bomb/lives in stock and from that point it was just a survival bombfest. I used the hyper gauge as kind of a panic bomb to get through the hectic areas. I arrived at the last boss with one bomb and one extra ship. I think I had two bombs left at the end.

You can do it, man. The hyper is great for cancelling bullets through the tough areas. The only problem with using it on bosses is that it speeds up their bullets a lot.

You got that right.

Nice score Dave.

I just had what was my best survival run, made Area 5 w/my ship (no bombs left) and 3 ships in stock.
And I still managed to die out before the boss. 2.45bil :/

I just tried a few more, a few 2.3, 2.4 billion runs, but then it fell to shit. I think I am getting burned out on the game, and if I have to play that first level again....ugh. Might be time to concede for a while and come back to this later...
