I take back what I said before. There are missable items, they're just much later in the game.

But anyways, just kind of simply wondering if Colony 9 and eventually 6 are basically the only main big cities in the game? I honestly wouldn't mind that... so I think that'd take off some overwhelming tension with all the quests, lol. Whenever I go back to Colony 9 it's like I keep getting more quests and completing a ton.
I think if there's more big cities, it might be a little tedious and overwhelming.
Huh... speaking of tension, how does that exactly work again? Just got some gems for it now too.
They are not the only major cities. There are a few more. There are a lot of quests. I'm like 120 or 125 hours in and am still not done. I'm estimating I'll be mostly totally finished with the game around 200 hours. That is doing all the quests, maybe all the unique monsters, and whatever else.
Tension is like morale and is communicated by your character portraits. I've noticed that it has a big effect on accuracy, evasion, and crit ratio. I think it might affect other stats too. When I have high tension my talent gauge seems to sometimes fill up immediately too. Getting the tension high quickly can make for a really easy battle. I wouldn't usually give a gem slot to a tension gem though.
Some arts can only be used at high tension levels.
When your characters have low tension (and look sad) you should be sure to run over to them and cheer them up. It helps raise affinity too.
Yeah I thought it was something like that. Sneaking up on enemies and getting the timed bonus things boosts tension doesn't it?
Still trying to remember and figure everything out about this game, haha. I sense a same issue I had with the other Xeno games... lots of fun characters to use, so it makes choosing parties kind of tough (was awesome being able to switch people during battles in the Saga games though, at least some of them I believe). Just got Melia and Miki... Melia seems a bit hard to use, maybe easier than Sharla though who just seems to be mostly support. I guess the game being so long and huge though gives you plenty of time to experiment with parties. I was liking Shulk, Dunban, and Melia there a good bit, Shulk and Dunban being my favorites to control so far.
Guess I answered my other own question above by playing a bit more tonight and discovering the Nopon village, man. lol, well I think they went overboard by having different people out and different quests around depending on the time of day. I'm glad there's a day and night cycle, but yeah I'm just not going to take the time to run through these massive villages several times back and forth at day and then night. Even if you can change the time instantly, it just seems a bit over the top.

I'm starting to feel the same way. I'm 20 hours in and have yet to get to Colony 6. I'm working on side quests at level 24 while poor Juju is being held hostage...

There is only one more big city after Frontier Village, but there are a few small places further along the game you'll find some more quests and stuff. Also, you'll still have quests showing up in the older cities.

hahahahahahahaha. Yeah, I stopped trying to do all quests, cause I was playing the game for 6 months and I was still at the middle xD.

What do you mean by that?? I didn't find anything strange or difficult about that character...
Very minor spoilers (mainly for people who dont have the character yet, so dont know how she plays)-
Knowing when to attack or when to keep the elementals active for the buffs is important for some of the tougher enemies later on. Melia actually gets harder to use aswell, as her HP and defence growth is much lower than other characters, and she becomes noticeably more fragile proportionally to the others as their levels rise, which means you'll be needing to pace your spells rather than just spam them. She does have some big advantages though, in that she has great accuracy allowing you to take down higher level monsters with her, and her spell casting talent art is amazing for building the multiplier in chain attacks.
I found that there is more to using her than seems apparent early on.

There's a part in the game where you control exclusively her, so you need to know how to use her. I always stuck with Shulk Reyn and Sharla so I had to level up her arts and equip her gear right then
