I'm in!

Had my first few runs with Truxton, but damn! that game is hard...
Playing it on my tated and chopped Naomi Universal cab on mame :P

Best run so far: 79390 on area 24... Hopefully at the end of the month I'm a lot better

It's actually one of the first retro shmups I'm playing and I'm thinking that some of the Cave games are a lot easier  ghehehe

Some CAVE stuff might be easier when played for survival I'd say. Adding in even semi-optimal scoring, I'd say Cave blows this out of the water. Too bad there is no Cave month. It makes sense, but I was looking forward to discussing some in-depth strat with you guys about Pink Sweets ;)

I'm gonna try to find some more time for Truxton today. PCE port all the way! :) the enemies actually shoot bullets

so Genesis version... what's the deal on going for score? Am I keeping it set to NORMAL and then using all (3?) lives?

That's what I'm doing.

What about bombs? Can we use them?

I really hate to use bombs though. I guess it's all right as long as your score isn't penalized.

I've been doing normal, but when it comes down to getting a high score I don't think the amount of credits you have at your disposal changes much. If it gave you more stock then yeah, but credits eh.

I think I'm going to be able to rack up a nasty score once I can get through the first section and the first boss without losing a credit. I figured out a pretty reliable way to take him down in seconds.

Also, I'd say let the bombs fly.

Gonna update the OP with scores/versions now. Also gonna update the dev of the month standings.

Got a new highscore: 82370

I just keep getting my ass kicked at the first level when there's three of those big ones shooting lasers straight down at ya... Any tips on how to not get killed there?

I also hate the fastest speed, goes too fast for dodging bullets, but you need the powerup's for score...

For my score on page 1, i'm playing on shmupmame.

Also, fwiw, the Toaplan Hardware PCB is cheaper than the PCE version - $75-100, i'm working on one right now, but its in UK, so may not be here in time :/
