Finished Luigi's Mansion. It was fun, but too easy. And short.

That's why so many people didn't like that game.

Yeah. My launch GC was bought with this game. I finished it the same night I bought it. Which sucked, since I had no more money to buy another game.

But it is really cool looking and fun.

Obviously you guys didn't gold frame every ghost. And frankly neither did I.

Even though the game fell short somewhat, I really did enjoy it. I'm hoping that they'll tune things up in this sequel thing I here about every so often...

I just finished Zelda: Wind Waker last night.

I wish I had known before how much fun it is to stab someone in the forehead!

Ooph, dsheinem, we're going to have an interesting conversation. I think I'm almost through the main storyline of Turok, and I really do not like this game.

The game is on it's way to me so I won't have it until late this week, unfortunately. In any case I didn't care for the previous Turoks much either so I am not sure why I even picked this up - I guess I was more interested in this than anything else on the list of the person I was trading with - and I didn't give up anything I cared about to get it.

In any case, killing dinosaurs SHOULD be fun, so hopefully there is something redemptive in it...

Well, I don't know if you'll be playing a console version, either, and that may remove some of the gripes I have with the game. I'm playing the PC version.

But yeah, killing dinosaurs is fun, and entertaining for the first few cinematic knife kills(they didn't put in nearly enough). If the game had been all about wandering through the jungle at night, hunting dinosaurs with a bow and a knife, I'd have loved it because to me that has been the best part. Unfortunately there's a lack of dinosaur types...I mean, there's a definite limit, though they do change visual styles, which is nice. It's too bad that's not all of the game.

First off, the thing that absolutely kills it for me is the control system. Firing a gun is left click, while zooming is right click on the mouse. To do alternate fire, you have to hold shift and then left click. Hold shift and right click to throw a grenade. It's not an intuitive system to me, and it's also something that cannot be changed in the options. To make matters worse, the alternate fire for the sniper rifle is how you zoom in beyond x2 zoom, and the knife's attack when not stealth killing folks is pathetic, but you can't stealth kill while holding shift to do its infinitely more useful alternate fire. Hitting the mousewheel or something similar to what I'm used to doing in other FPS switches weapons, which has caused me to lose a shot more than enough times to become frustrated. You can also dual wield certain weapons, though they can be held in a single hand as well. So, when scrolling through guns, you'll get your knife, bow, dual wield one style, dual wield a second style(guns set to opposite hands), and then one of the guns you dual wield, and then the other. It feels...I don't know, sloppy.

Second, it has checkpoint saving and regenerating health, though a headshot drops you in about one hit. To make matters worse, certain enemies have a rate and spread of fire that you'll be surprised how often you get hit in the head. Which reverts you back to that checkpoint where you have to run through the entire firefight again, as well as any videos you have to watch.

Third, more than half the game you play with AI partners. And while they can't die and they will kill enemies, they're not very useful because they open up on just about everything they see, which kills any stealth tactics you might have liked, yet they will never shoot the guy who is unloading pointblank on you with a shotgun, or the raptor that is attempting to bite your face off(though they will scream for help from you whenever they're in a similar situation). Also, if you're trying to do anything, like snipe or get dinosaurs to attack men by sticking flares to them, they will kill your target almost every time. It's frustrating attempting to get certain achievements in the game when I'm being cockblocked by my so-called "friends." And while I like the voice actors(especially Ron Pearlman), these guys talk WAY too often, and it's always the same line over and over again.

Fourth, the achievements are about 75% multiplayer, 25% single player story. Why did they even bother making a single player game?

Fifth, while stealth is an important aspect of the game, if one enemy spots you, even if you kill him immediately before he fires off a shot and nobody else sees you, every enemy will know where you are. I honestly thought for half the game I was killing hive-minded robots, but I think they're supposed to be human beings. The sad truth of it is, it's actually easier to kill dinosaurs than men. There's also some issues with the stealth kills and when you can get them, as I've stood right next to a little dinosaur with the knife out for half a minute before it registered I could kill it like that, but yet the next dinosaur registered it immediately.

I also dislike the layout of the menus, but that's a minor gripe, even with all the others. And I've got other complaints, but they're bugs and errors I've encountered, not really major gameplay elements.

Ok, on that note, I have beaten the game...and I have no desire whatsoever to go back through it again, though I would have to play the single player at least one more time on the hardest difficulty and then spend God knows how much time in multiplayer to get all the achievements, and I really just do not want to do it. So I'm debating...mark it as beaten, or mark it as completed and remove it from my PC, since I have no desire to ever play this game again.
