The chaining with those boxes on 4A will take some getting used to.

Well, made it to Stage 5. That ring-type boss is a bitch, killed me twice.

Chaining a little better, and still getting 100% on most bosses; still no merries, though. Guess I'll have to watch the vids to find them.

Well i'll be outfoxed! Nice job Donnie! Damn, I thought I had my stuff together last night, every run in the 1mil range and i'm doing terrible on the 3rd boss of all things, he floats the pink bullets out there and as I go to sword them - he lazers me, like offering me candy and then "boom", right in the dangler...every time! More than a bit Pavlovian.

Just spent 15 minutes with this. I don't like the scoring at all. I feel so awkward bypassing enemies and I'm not sure which enemies to chain. I guess I'll need to watch some videos and practice. The weapon system is pretty cool. I like how you can combine some together to get the sword and other various combos. My best run was 199K. I'll submit a more accurate score once I learn to play.

I'll try to keep up this month as I haven't been very involved for the last 2 games.

Not much to say other than I need to learn the 4B Boss' patterns. I finally maxed out the red chain on 4A which was my goal for today. I feel it was a fluke though. I nearly killed one Of the yellow bugs.

Today's score:

Well, goddamn. Here I am thinkin', "Alright, I almost hit the 4mil mark!" Then I get on, and see that Hashiriya has crushed my score by almost 1 million pts. (sigh)

Got to the Stage 6 Boss. He's a prick for sure, 5 different stages of him to beat. Oh, well. I might not get high score, but I'm damn close to 1cc on this one.

One week later, while everyone is hanging out playing Raiden Fighters II, I continually hammer away at a better and better score on the game we should all be playing (but like RF II, not gonna beat the likes of Dun and Hashi anytime soon on either game )

ExedExes -- 897,220 -- Stage 3C -- Saturn

Stage 3C is still a trip but my 3B chains are getting slightly better. Hoping to also start Ikaruga next week.

I thought we were all playing DDP Resurrection

In any case, this one seems to be a bit of a dud compared to some other months. Hell, last month turned out to be pretty active in terms of discussion despite concerns that it may not be...

I'm actually still playing Metal Black, that game rocks.

I really got in the mood for that pure shooting experience. I haven't even been playing Cave stuff... so RSG is a tough one for me to want to put on.

Ill give it some more time though

Just for that, that's great! I'm glad MB got a lot of tries, re-tries, and discussion. RS is a great game too, and I'd definitely put it in a top 10 list somewhere.

I've leaned toward the classics lately myself. Sky Shark is a great choice Dun, I have the NES port and that's where I got a lot of shmup-training.
