Journey's Escape (2600) *NEW*
Lost internet all day yesterday due to hurricane Irene, so I decided to pass the time with some Atari, mainly Journey's Escape, which is based of the band and their album "Escape". This game is quite strange, and reminds me of Frogger on crack. There are 5 levels and each level you play as a different band member. The point of the game is to make it to the bug-like space ship thing before time runs out. "Enemies" try to block your way and push you to the bottom of the screen and steal your money in the process (Money is your score). The flashy lights hurt my head after playing for awhile but it was all good fun. The game also played "Don't Stop Believing" on the title screen, which I liked.

Real short but neat game. I've always been interested in the Resident Evil story line but too much of a wuss to play the actual games - so for me this was a really cool experience. It presents some of the plot highlights from Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil, and Resident Evil 3 but in an awesome lightgun game.
The game is really well thought out, seems to have decent replay value (extra missions / scenarios) and was a great way to kill an afternoon. I may have to get the sequel if I can find it cheap enough.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

^I passed up that game for £5 recently. I've not seen it for any less than £25 since. I've heard it described as 'House of the Dead with longevity', which was enough to pique my interest.
Re: Games Beaten : 2011
I'm no expert on House of the Dead but that description might fit pretty well. One thing I noticed is that there is more strategy involved in Umbrella Chronicles - the zombies are tough and tend to attack you in huge swarms. Once I realized I could knee cap each zombie once (and only once) to buy myself an extra couple of seconds to line up that head shot the game became much easier.Balasubbie wrote:^I passed up that game for £5 recently. Might pay full whack for it, love my light-guns. On another note, what difficulty do you clear your fighters on? And when d'you consider them beat? All characters, or one character playthoughs?

Not sure where to begin with this game. The gameplay is solid, mostly, I especially enjoyed some of the later firefights and escape sequences. I still think it's weird that Halo games never really have boss fights, but that's easy to get over.
The first thing that sucks is about halfway through Halo 2 the story started slipping and by this game it is a hot mess. Most of the time I don't know what I'm doing or why I'm doing it or what the motivations are of the players. It's just disappointing as it seems like there's a cool world here that they just can't explain properly.
The second thing that sucks is the character models ... blegh. The models are horrible! This is supposed to be a next-gen system? Models look like they're from an oXBox game! Anyway, my verdict is, typical fun Halo gameplay, just ignore the story and the graphics? I don't think I wasted my time, but it was generally disappointing. I'll give it a few months and then dive into Halo: Reach.

Re: Games Beaten : 2011
I tried to do a Halo marathon myself a few months back and after the sluggish adventure that was Halo 2, I just couldn't finish Halo 3 after that. Halo and Reach blow those games away to me especially in terms of narrative. The story was an absolute mess by the time 3 rolled around. Elites teaming up with the humans... are you kidding me?
