How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
Demon's Crest *looks* good, I'll give it that, but I'd consider GQ II on the NES to be a true hidden gem. It's one of the few games that really sucked me in.

I'd take both the GQ games over Demon's Crest too, DC just isn't all that fun at all and it took out some of the magic that the older duo of titles had that made them so much fun. I still have GQ2, but DC was out of here and I put that money I got for it to far better purpose.
As far as Earthbound goes the most I ever paid for a MINT complete copy was $20 in the late 90s and for a loose cart with actual money $2 like 4 years ago at a flea market, though I had another some years earlier but I used trade credit on crappy old dvds and paperbacks to get it free. I don't put much value into the game which is why I still don't have the box but I do have the guide. I'm currently $2+$60 into it, but I see no reason to piss $200 or more on a box.
ninja--famicom is very recently having that problem too with certain games. Lickle (Little samson) used to be like $50, but it now sells for over $100. Panic Restaurant (Gourmet World something) I think gets close to $100 now but it would have been almost nothing a year earlier. Yet oddly stuff like Bonk still doesn't get crap on the Famicom while the NES game hovers steady at a few hundred bucks.

Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
Bonk on the Nes is incredibly easy, I beat the game the first time I ever tried it. Only died a couple of times. I actually just ordered super genjin aka super bonk for the superfamicom for only $9 including shipping from Japan. So most of that price must of been the shipping cost as it usually costs $6-$8 to ship a sfc cart from Japan. Seems like the US super bonk isnt as cheap anymore so i might as well go with the SFC version as there really is no difference.

Yeah I think it went up around two years ago. I've had a couple copies of it but it just never really grabbed me like the NES and TG16 hucard games. Also a plus you can be consistent, there's a sequel only japan got for PC Gengin on SFC.

That NES game is crazy expensive!

Mentioned that in my previous Reply concerning the price compared to buying a TG16 console and Bonk game. Get both of the Japan SNES versions, a great price! Of note, SNES Super Genjin 2 which is a Japan exclusive is the better game of the two SNES releases.

This is more like it. Super Genjin 2 - only released in Japan for the Super Famicom - is a return to form, with levels that more closely adhere to the original TurboGrafx-16 games. It's also received a beautiful visual overhaul. Although the sprites are technically a bit smaller than the previous outings, the stages are much more colorful, consisting of a brighter color palette and unique background designs. Many of the background tiles are angular, making it look like you're adventuring through a garden of pristine stained glass. It's a nice alternate take on the storybook-style visuals found in Yoshi's Island.
Even though it was passed over for North American release, Super Genjin 2 is still an excellent title, one that's usually forgotten because it's not on an NEC platform. Japanese copies are common too, and hopefully it'll reach outside Japan on the Wii Virtual Console.
Just at the start of the game you can try each power up. Oooh this game is great, looking forward to go thru all the levels. Special thanks to Smashed Brother for selling me this.

Are there any other good SFC imports out there that are still cheap? I'm always on the hunt for some hidden gems.

I've tried so hard to get into Demon's Crest, but it never clicks. The controls feel weird after growing up with so much Super Ghouls' n Ghosts and that double jump.

I picked these 5 up the other day for a combined total of under £25, but they're very text heavy. I'm translation patching them on my Retron5:
Fire Emblem: Monsho no Nazo
Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu
Live a Live
Final Fantasy V
Wonder Project J
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
alienjesus, what translation patch are you using for Live A Live? The old one that was only partly finished, or the one that came out a couple of years ago?
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
Higher priced retro games could be bad and good. Bad for the players :p
but good as in people will no longer see older cartridges as "junk". Those who already own them might take more care of them to get a better price for them in the future (if they decide to sell) and those who have them stored "somewhere" will sell them, instead of throwing that "trash" away, and that will allow others to get them.
$20 * 5 cartridges = $100 not bad
Not to hate on low prices, but do people find it profitable to sell online and do the shipping work for $3? Especially in Japan where I heard living standard is high so $3 sounds even lower to the seller over there.
