I'm putting DMC3 down twice because I basically completed the campaign 7-8 times back to back (all modes for Dante, then a Vergil Yellow Orb run).
AND GOT THE PLATINUM. My first... I told myself it'd be funny and memorable to make DMC3 of all games the first and well, I did it.
DMC1, DMC2, and DMC4... probably some of my favorite action games of all time. I'm huge on the first Ninja Gaiden (Xbox), but man, DMC has a lot of charm and I like the addition of guns and such. The styles thing in DMC3-4 was really awesome and I love how well designed the games were with NG+ runs in mind. Once you plow through the game once and get through the goofy plot, you can just burn through the levels like an arcade game almost. While your items and stuff carry over to the higher difficulties, which is awesome, the enemies, placement, etc, start changing enough that all that's happening is you're evolving with the difficulty itself and don't exactly have a crazy advantage. You get a tighter grip on the depth of the combat and it just feels so badass and rewarding. Some of the best difficulty curving/evolution ever.
I'll shoot for the DMC1 platinum in the near future, but hot damn I need a break now. My fingers hurt... (old lady voice).
I'm not sure which is my favorite. Vergil is super fun to play as though and I loved the bosses in DMC3, even if they made me rage. Fighting Vergil himself... I love when crazy games like this end up having very human-like (as in, they're playable with nearly the same moveset) final bosses, like Vergil here. It feels more awesome than taking on some giant monster most of the time.
I noticed DMC1 has the RE1-3 composer though and it really showed, the music in that one stood out a ton.

I think this one had the best atmosphere by far, but DMC3-4 take the gameplay to the next level. I'd easily put these games on the same level of the classic RE's, Metal Gear Solid, and such for me. Doesn't get much better.
brunoafh already summed up what I'd probably say about DMC2 myself, though I had no nostalgia attached. It was bare bones and just sucked. I'd probably put ZOE1 above it for me this year, but that's not saying much... lol. Weak. Nice to play it myself to see what the fuss is and yeah, never touching it again. But I can see DMC1, 3, and 4 being stuff I revisit forever.
In final, I'd also say I personally think this is the best looking HD collection I've played so far. Maybe the original games already looked this good, the MGS collection was perfect, but these games really popped out and looked very top notch in beefed up clarity and widescreen.
