- Bushido Blade 2
For some reason, the idea of one hit kills intrigued me to play the second version. Then again, it could be because I love Japanese samurai type games. The final bosses are annoying on each side though. I found the one with the defense was a lot easier to beat then the super fast guy.

Metroid Fusion is a game I have a love / hate relationship with. The gameplay is great, the story isn't too shabby, and the game did a lot to expand the Metroid universe that, before Fusion, had consisted entirely of only two planets and Samus.
But there's a lot I hate about it. I hate the hand holding. I hate the linear gameplay. I hate the art direction. I hate that the SA-X encounters were so scripted - the thrill you get when the SA-X enters a room and you know you're seconds away from dying is very compelling. The developers, for some reason, did little to capitalize on such a brilliant concept.
Still it's not a bad game - but if I had to choose, I'd take Zero Mission every time.

I was gearing up to replay Metroid Fusion myself here soon, I'm sure my sentiments will be the exact same though. Especially regarding the art direction as you said, one of my favorite things about the Metroid games is that they're mostly -organic- environments, or submerged into industrialized architecture and whatnot. But Fusion from what I remember was just mostly a straight up spaceship and that was kind of boring. Hated the Fusion suit too, it just looked awful and weird.
I've only beaten it once and that was years ago, but just like some of the lesser Metroidvania games I'm sure it's still fun... that said I've beaten Zero Mission several times and yeah, it's just way better in every regard. Maybe I'll marathon both here soon.

Yeah, I hated the way the fusion suit looked. Samus' powersuit is one of my all time favorite power armor designs. I love how powerful it looks all while maintaining sleek lines and a great color scheme. It has an almost 1960's style astronaut quality crossed with abilities out of Starship Troopers. It's part of the reason why Samus Aran is my all time favorite Nintendo character - and damn near my favorite video game character overall.
The Fusion suit just looked ugly. It looked like a compromise Nintendo made with themselves to get the game to be playable on the original GBA. To this day I don't understand why no one ever stopped during the development cycle and pointed out how hideous they'd made one of Nintendo's most iconic characters look.
Meh, at least the game is overall pretty good, though notably flawed.
I think I'll wash it down with my 23rd run through Super Metroid.

out of all the shmups i've ever played insector-x is my least favorite: music sucks; colors are more drab than a communist's wardrobe; the variety of enemies might be limited to 10 throughout the whole game. i wouldn't classify the game as bad, however. as long as the controls are tight, i don't think i could call any shmup bad.
as you power up your weapon most enemies - especially the level bosses - will gain strength. i noticed this pretty early on when i was able to beat the first level boss faster with the opening weapon than with a more powered up weapon. doesn't this defeat the whole purpose of powering up your weapon?

why do you just list the console as "sega?" Sega was the company. They made a lot of consoles. Based on the titles, I'm assuming that you're referring to the Gensis/MD... but I'm just curious.

I picked up SPY Fox at a Goodwill in Alabama, and it is the only one of Humongous Entertainment's old point and click adventure series that I'd never played (other than a demo and a spin-off). There was a couple of confusing points, but it was never frustrating and is a good game to play if you want to just sit back and relax. Plus it runs on ScummVM!
emwearz had suggested to me to get The Stanley Parable, and I'm glad he did. Though the game is very short (around 10-15 minutes), there's a lot of replay value to be had by ignoring the narrator at times. I'm thinking about playing again tonight to see what other endings I can get.
