Anyone who thinks there's nothing good on TV is nuts. I'm CONSTANTLY finding great new stuff to watch. I just recently got hooked on American Horror Story Coven. And I'm thinking about checking out Justified, The Americans, Downton Abbey, and Masters of Sex based on all the positive buzz I've heard about them

The Returned is awesome and I don't hear anyone talking about it on this forum. Nikita's having a great final season. Arrow rocks. Supernatural had a great mid season finale. Once Upon a Time and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland are fun. Sons of Anarchy is great. Homeland has its moments. Fox is bringing it with Almost Human and Sleepy Hollow, both of which have exceeded my expectations. Note to Fox. DON'T ****ING CANCEL THEM!

Orange is the New Black is fantastic. It feels like a prison comedy for the first few episodes, then starts moving into darker territory.

Sherlock is amazing too. "A Scandal in Belgravia" was just an awesome episode. Doctor Who's 50th anniversary episode was one of the best goddamn Doctor Who episodes I've ever seen.

And much as i loved Breaking Bad, it wasn't THAT good, to the point that it's impossible to enjoy anything else on TV. Hell NO SHOW is THAT good

We're in a golden age right. We're spoiled with the amount of good stuff on TV. I can't even keep up with all of it. It's honestly kind of frustrating, but hey, first world problems

EDIT: Hell, I forgot Revolution, which has gotten pretty awesome in its second season

Stop thinking and do. All three of those are great shows. The Americans is my favorite new show from last season.

I forgot about Downton.

I'd say that TV was much better about 5-10 years ago than it is right now. No offense, Gamerforlife, but a lot of the shows that you enjoy and defend (especially in the sci-fi/comic/fantasy/supernatural realms) I just find to be hackneyed versions of overwrought stories in genres that have become filled with unwitting self-parodies.

You should check out The Americans too if the premise sounds interesting to you at all.

I so don't agree with this. 5-10 years ago T.V. was mostly dominated by reality T.V. and celebrity focused T.V. I find that mindless junk is much less entertaining than the actual planned out T.V. shows with storylines that are starting to come into prominence again.

I've actually been meaning to start watching Game of Thrones, Sons of Anarchy, Justified, and Breaking Bad, but have yet to as I'm pretty far behind and there really isn't a way for me to watch it- I don't have netflix or anything like that. I'm also excited for the upcoming show on HBO with Matthew Mcconaughey... not sure what that one is called.

And I will say that the Black Dynamite animation is one of the best things on Adult Swim in a long time as far as I'm concerned.

I didn't watch any of that shit. I suppose when I am referring to TV being better 5-10 years ago I am mostly referring to HBO shows being better (Sopranos, The Wire, Deadwood, etc.) and giving me a reason to watch TV at all. Network and the rest of cable was, agreed, mostly a terrible wasteland ( I think The Office was the only non-HBO show I was watching for a long time). Perhaps network and regular cable have improved, but I feel like their recent improvements are still far behind what the best TV (e.g. HBO shows) was like a decade ago. And with a few notable exceptions, contemporary sci-fi/fantasy/comic book shows are even worse than the increasingly shitty feature films in those genres.

My wife and I watch awkward. on MTV. Cute show.

I've also been watching Modern Family late night on USA. I enjoy it much more than I thought I would. And the MILF rating is through the roof.

I don't have any of the premium channels.

I think if you did or had a decade ago your view of contemporary network and basic cable TV would be more pessimistic. Hell, even premium cable shows are more lackluster these days.
