Why do you have so many WiiU games?

Just teasing, I was going for the "WiiU doesn't possibly have that many games to play on it" joke. Move along.

2 new games beaten.

I've spoken more about Earthbound in the Summer Game Challenge thread, but needless to say I loved it and think it's a game everyone should experience.

Attack of the Friday Monsters is a game that is a lot harder to recommend though. Its sort of an adventure game that follows a young boy that has moved into a town where giant kaiju monsters come out and fight every Friday evening. You explore the mystery behind these giant monsters. Calling it an adventure game is a bit misleading though. Mostly you just move around and talk to the person it indicates you should talk to next. There is some 'gameplay' added through a collectable card game you can play with your in game friends, but its pretty simple and not that exciting. The same goes for the story, which is 90% predictable and 10% completely out of nowhere and not especially well written. As a game and a story, the game kinda falls flat. Where it succeeds though is as a charming experience - the characters are written like children, they play silly games and cast 'magic spells' on each other. You also see a small bit of backstory for random NPCs in your town by following through the story - nothing deep at all, but hinting at bigger characterisations behind the limited scope of the game. This slice of life experience is wonderfully blended with a japanese kaiju TV show, with the characters going about their daily lives and not being at all surprised when a giant superhero shows up to fight a dinosair just outside their town. Is the game worth playing? .....eh, maybe? Definitely wait for a discount before trying it, it's a pretty unique experience, and not one that is particularly revolutionary, but you might find some enjoyment in the experience anyway.

33. Metro: Last Light - PC
I really enjoyed Metro 2033 and after the way it ended I was a bit skeptical about how they would handle the sequel in terms of its storyline, but I will tell you what, I think it beat the original in most ways, other than perhaps raw shooting, which seems to have taken a bit of a back seat to the narrative and stealth sections.

Overall I think the game is a great blend of storytelling (though there might be a few too many cut scenes, but the story and setting is so interesting that it did not bother me) shooting and stealth. I found the game did not have the same 'urgency' about it that the first had, in terms of making sure each shot hit its target in case you ran out of ammo in the these dark tunnels. The 'charging' system has also been played down and I never felt worried about it running out and it only took a few moments to full charge the torch, I remember constantly making sure I had a full charge in the first game.

Really decent sequel, I started the DLC and its pretty dull, doubt I will bother finishing it, one of the missions saved my checkpoint just when it was game over, so I would have to start it over, hardly worth it.

I've beaten Mega Man 2 at least a dozen times this year, but will only list one game per system.

The only enemy that ever gives me trouble is the damned dragon, who always gets my pulse racing. He's easy as pie to beat, but the jumping sequence leading up to him freaks me out.

I always get tripped up on the part with the robot boss in Wily's Castle that comes apart a block at a time (each of which flies towards you) and then builds back together on the other side of screen.

Just beat this. Great looking remake. The graphics are completely overhauled and there are a few small changes here and there. But it feels just like the original when you play it. So don't go broke trying to track it down if you already have the original.

I'm fine with the dragon. I'm with Luke, though, that the jumping away from him is the part that sucks.

I absolutely hate the Wily 4 boss. It's a cinch to beat with an E-can, and as long as one doesn't make any mistakes; but it's so ridiculously unforgiving of fuck ups. Inevitably that's going to happen to me; It's just what I do at times, in games. Having to farm weapon energy off of those little floating capsule enemies is maddening.
