I don't mind ports so much, but I feel like games like panzer dragoon saga, earthbound or other rare greats belong in their original form and contribute to their legacy..but that's just me

So you don't like games being more widely available to get a hold of?

I think it's more that he believes games should always be played on original hardware.

Not really

Maybe he just wants them to have physical releases? In that case I agree that selling an SNES rom on a Wii disk for 20-25€ with some extras added, as a "collector's" or "anniversary" edition is alright by me. I prefer that to buying roms online actually (bought the Super Mario All Stars Wii version and I'm happy with it).

If he's one of those people though who just bitch about the PSN rerelease of FF7 making the monetary value of their physical copy go down, then booooooooooooooooooooooooooo

No offense to you of course mate, but I clearly remember a couple of years ago we had an asshole who actually made a thread about this. We are all trying to spread the wonders of retro gaming and older classics, and here was this asshole wanting to keep all the games to himself so he could price gouge people on ebay.

That's not the same thing though. Those versions have added content. I think he is ok with games being updated and rereleased as long as they have additional content, but he dislikes straight ports.

ah....then we kind of have the opposite opinion

Extras are nice, but I would like to have the option of playing the original version. Plus some times the changes are REALLY FOR THE WORSE (like the new voices in the 3DS version of Starfox 64)

Haha i noticed I may have conflicted myself here..basically alot of people complain that some old games are too expensive..which is true, I mean, I paid top dollar for panzer dragoon saga because I wanted to see for myself how good of a game it was..and I loved it, but suppose sega decided to re-release it..I may be a tad upset (but also a little happy since realistically very few have got to enjoy the gem of a game it is..and albeit the product key is lost so it's fine for now lol)

I mean..I don't mind the ports of chrono trigger and re releases of other games since those games at tops went for 80-100 somewhat odd bucks..I just truly do enjoy playing games in their original form (but I do understand that alot of gamers are students and can't exactly afford to dish out 2-300 bucks per super insanely rare game)

As someone who refuses to pay more than $50 (maybe $60 on a good day) for a single game I am extremely grateful for ports, remakes, comps, etc...

I seriously wish we had more of these. I'd pay 50€ for a compilation of all the PS1 FF games, all the Megaman X games, ect. ect.

But only Sega does it well imo (mega drive ultimate collection)
