Thoughts on Kid Icarus? This is one of those well-known games that I've somehow managed not to play yet. Tempted to check it out on FDS.

It's a good game. Perhaps not as good as Metroid and more "traditional" but fun and well-made. I would play it.

I think the original is a pretty good game, though I actually prefer the scrolling of the Game Boy Kid Icarus game. They're both worth checking out in my opinion.

Kid Icarus is solid. It's got an inverted difficulty curve. You get past the first stage or two, you're golden.

I may purchase it this weekend. It's a toss-up between that and Castlevania II.

If you're talking about Game Boy "Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge", don't sleep on it Bone. I beat that one myself for the first time last year, and I felt like a doof for having waited so long. It's really, really, really great.

I'm technically talking about Dracula II.

I hear that the Disk System version of CV2 is really obtuse about the spots where it chooses to load. Like, don't go left out of town and get knocked back by the werewolves, or you get to flip sides again.

Yeah it's one of those games that has stage-flipping, as opposed to just save-flipping, unfortunately. Esper Dream (also by Konami!) is the same way.
