In all honesty, its probably not even worth that, but I've wanted one ever since I saw From Dusk Till Dawn.
He would probably take 1200 and that isnt a bad deal. I wouldnt get it as a main source of transportation, but would be a nice project car. Engine probably needs a rebuild and the front end body work like you said. I would be very surprised if it didnt need new floor pans as well. Might also have some surface rust to chase around.

And I was pissed at Hobie for essentially saying that I was going to crash my car. That's a pretty damn wrong thing to say.
You're a younger inexperienced driver. Inexperienced drivers, like teenagers, are very likely to get in an accident. Maybe nothing more than a bent bumper or fender, but it is pretty much a given that inexperienced drivers will have some sort of accident. It is also possible that it is not something your fault, but your inexperience means you are unable to avoid a situation set up by someone else or unseen conditions. There's a reason that insurance rates go down after 25. People get better at driving with experience. Overconfidence, such as your apparent attitude that "It won't happen to me" adds to the likelyhood.

The fact that you want to drive older vehicles also makes things more difficult for you.
but they aren't metal enough for me, along with the fact that I don't like the way they drive, I overcorrect a ton because I'm used to driving older vehicles.
That's a pretty piss poor attitude to have too. New vehicles are safer and handle better than old ones. This is a fact. You'd rather drive an older vehicle badly instead of learning how to drive better in a better handling car, at least until you're a better driver. I hope you wear your seatbelt.

I gave you straight talk advice to not drive something you're in love with until you have more miles under your belt, but whatever. You can take that 'fuck you' attitude and shove it up your ass for all I care at this point.

:? I agree with everything Hobie said.

:D The guy I'm buying the mantids from just gave me a price cut on overnight shipping. They should be here Wednesday along with my new camera.

:) The home we're trying to purchase from a family member has a small greenhouse. This would be great to house my insects in if this becomes a full-blown hobby. Can't wait until I'm able to move back home.

:( I've been neglecting my games (other than Pokemon). All the systems from vacation are hooked up again and ready to go, but I just haven't taken the time to sit down and play. Plus I'm trying to work as much OT as possible to save up for emergencies.

Edit:
:D :D :D
Just got an email saying that my mantids may arrive a day sooner.

Jinx: That's so exciting! It would be really cool if you had a greenhouse with all of your plants and pets living in it. Plus if you have a green thumb, can grow all of your veggies year round! It'd be sweet to have the mantids deal with pests that sneak in. They'd be like your little ninja army.

I'm buying a Subaru in the future, because they're reliable, safe, and still somewhat sporty. Plus constant AWD in the Midwest is helpful. They also employ a number of Americans in Indiana, where a few of their cars are assembled. But Hobie is entirely right--5 of the top 10 cars that are 'American-made' are from Japanese companies.

I know it was your preference, but those 90's cars are going to rust out, have little in the area of modern-day safety, become less reliable, and unless you're a real top-notch gearhead, are going to cause you grief on the upkeep. If you want a truck, get a truck. But, evaluate your motivations in a decision: is it pressure to fit in or melding your interests on the bequest of friends or family? If yes, it's only going to confuse you years down the road and possibly lead to regret over your decisionmaking. Figure out what you want, assert your interests when you feel like you're being challenged, and don't feel guilty about it when you're pressured. Be your own person, mate.

Thanks! That's exactly what I'm hoping to do. The species I'm planning on raising in the long run are all communal or at least tolerable of other mantids. I also want to get a few various species of moths and possibly some carnivorous plants to go along with my eggplant and squash. :P

Smile: Fun weekend.

Spent most of Saturday at the 4x4 Monster Truck Jamboree, which was the first time I'd ever done such a thing. My four year old crushes hard on monster trucks, so the day was mostly for him - but I have to admit I had fun watching the spectacle both in the arena and on the fairgrounds (where the many walking redneck stereotypes provided endless chuckles).

Spent most of yesterday playing Borderlands 2, taking breaks to watch the Phils, play some MvC3, and grill up some steaks (and then smores) on the grill.

Frown: It was pointed out to me that classes resume in a scant six weeks. blegh.

It wasn't until I was in my late late 20's that I had a smore. Things are magical.

Smile: A/C guys are here!

Frown: They'll be here until 4-ish.
