Anyone else playing Blacklight: Retribution?

Free to play and no PS+ required to play online (well actually, it's online only). Free to play doesn't necessarily mean pay to win either. You can throw money at the game to start building permanent load outs or gain access to items sooner, but the starting weapon is one of the best. You can't just buy the biggest gun and end up on top in every match. Lots of stat management and everything has trade offs.

I'm not normally a console FPS fan, but this one's got me hooked. Has a really cool cyberpunk aesthetic going on. Everyone has a wall hack ability that keeps matches quick and discourages camping. And hey, it's free.

I really enjoyed Blacklight when it first came out on PC quite a few years ago. Doesn't quite have the same following it used to but I loved the customizable guns. Though when I quit incendiary ammo was definitely pay to win.

Ahh. Things are a bit different in the PS4 version. Where as the PC version has been mostly abandoned by the developer, the PS4 version still receives regular updates. Elemental ammo types seem to be restricted to hero classes and they aren't usually very good.

So I am 1/3 of the way in and The Order is fine. A 9/10 or 10/10 game? No, not yet. A 7/10 or an 8/10 game. Certainly.

Yeah. Based on chapter count, I am closer to 2/3 of the way done now... and the game just improves as it goes. I really don't get the way that critics have panned this one at all.
