Sorry about the edit, it's just something I thought of after posting when I remembered at least the aftermath of CWII wasn't all bad.
I haven't read that Guardians issue because I don't follow them, but I'll go do that.

Aye, I enjoyed it when the trade finally came outmarurun wrote:Holy Asian Cthulhu... Monstress by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda is insanely good and horrifically creepy and raw.
May want to check out Pretty Deadly and The Autumnlands as well.

Re: The Comic Book Thread
Guardians is about to wrap up Bendis' run. Starting with #15 is a story called "Grounded" where they are stuck on Earth. Each issue is about one character. #15 was about The Thing and involves Infamous Iron Doom. It actually overlaps scenes from Infamous #1. You'll definitely enjoy that one issue. Almost gave me old FF feels.Gunstar Green wrote: I haven't read that Guardians issue because I don't follow them, but I'll go do that.

Already enjoyed Pretty Deadly. But Autumnlands? Will put on my list.

Speaking of Image comics, there's quite a lot in the Humble Image 25th Anniversary bundle. Seems like trades start at the $10 mark.

that is A LOT of Image stuff, even if you go all-in at $25. It's tempting, though I've strayed away from most digital comics. I don't actually think I've read a digital comic in over six months now.isiolia wrote:Speaking of Image comics, there's quite a lot in the Humble Image 25th Anniversary bundle. Also, I'm going to plug (part of) the current Avengers series (again) to you guys. Let me try to explain... The current Avengers series that started in 2016 is written by Marc Waid. The main issues - of which there are 3 so far - takes place 'now' and has a brand new roster of Avengers. Consider it the post-Civil War II Avengers if you will... Falcon has taken the role of the new Captain America; Thor is now Jane Foster as the Thor we all know is currently "unworthy"; Starks is out, so Spider-Man is in as Parker Industries is now funding the group; and then we've got Vision, Hercules and The Wasp (Nadia). Okay, weird right? But don't worry about any of that if you don't want to.
EVERY OTHER ISSUE is numbered "x.1" and takes place in an alternate past. It is drawn and lettered to look like an old issue. In it Iron Man, Thor and the rest tell Captain America that they need a break. So he has to rebuild The Avengers with Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. So basically, it's a bunch of reformed bad guys as heroes. And the city doesn't trust them. And crazy awesome stuff happens.
Now, the "old" issues tie in with the new issues in really subtle ways. But you don't have to read one to follow the other. You can read the main numbered issues only, the .1 issues only, or both. But why I'm bringing this up (again, for the 3rd time I think) is because these .1 issues are fantastic and I think anybody in this thread who was reading comics in the 80's or 90's would totally adore this series.
Here's the newest issue, just released yesterday:

Re: The Comic Book Thread
So I read Hawkeye (Kate Bishop) #1 last night and it is awesome! It has a great vibe to it, in this first one, I like the way they show her thought process with targets hovering over people and things. Seems like she has ties with JJ and Hawkeye that aren't entirely clear to me yet, but either way a great start to this series. Thanks for the recommend B.

Read the first volume of God Machine, by Chandra Free. Not sure how I feel. Willing to read more if I can get my hands on it, but the jury is still not in full agreement on the verdict.
