And now vacation is cancelled and it appears we will be giving away the cat.

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
So some idiot almost hit me on my bike trying to run a light then proceeds to get out of his car while his friends tell him to get back in the car after my short outburst of swear words.
This guy was like 5'7 at most and looked really out of shape, I'm 6'3" and in great shape, so I started laughing my ass off as soon as he stepped out of the car. One of his friends got out too so I grabbed my bike lock but his friend wasn't trying to fight so I dropped it. The driver walked up to me and I just said "dude you really should just get back into your car like your friend says." Then he swung on me as I moved back and threw my left arm up to deflect. He just tapped the side of my chin. I shit you not I started laughing. I put my hands up expecting this guy to actually try and fight me but what does he do? Turns and gets back in his car with me on his heels.
I wasn't really trying to fight this guy after the pitiful punch so I just got his plate number and called the cops. I got put on hold! I didn't think that actually happened. So after a tiny hold I have a description and all the info I had on him.
I'm laughing about getting punched but I'm furious that I almost got hit.

Speeding: I rarely speed, and when I do it's only 5mph over the speed limit. It's kind of hard to drive around here without doing so, because everybody else drives crazy. The only time I went way over the speed-limit I got pulled over. Luckily he let me off because of my clean record. (Although he was still kind of a dick about it. Not sure how someone can be so nice and rude at the same time.)
Clothes: Never cared what other people thought about the way I dress. I know it may hold me back and is stupid, but I refuse to work anywhere that doesn't let me dress "comfortable". I've had two IT jobs and worked at BestBuy. All three jobs let me push the dress code to the limit and didn't mind. I even had meetings with district managers from Best Buy. I've often been told that they were skeptical at first, but warmed up to the idea after seeing my performance. First impressions do suck, but whatever...
Everything is ready for the arrival of my mantids. We have three Ghosts and a Chinese coming sometime this week. My terrarium is pretty nice, but I feel like I want to upgrade it later on. I also bought a Canon HF S200 with a bunch of accessories for a pretty good price.
I've spent way too much money over the past month. Gotta stop.
A bit of motivation has come back to improve myself and my skill-set. I'm hoping to hold onto this feeling for as long as possible. Need to secure this job (again).
Every time I tell myself I'm going to stay for over time, I always get the worst issues to deal with. I've spent nearly 2 hours trying to fix an extremely broken server and ended up having to hand it off to somebody else.

The trial is over, but the news coverage of the Zimmerman case will not be going anywhere anytime soon*. Also, the NAACP wants to file a federal civil rights case against Zimmerman because they say he targeted Black people. I don't think that will go anywhere. It's also an odd claim and having Trayvon being recorded using a racial slur sure won't help their case.
Smile: A good night's sleep. I also woke up to the smell and sound of sizzling bacon. Eggs, bacon, and fresh fruit. Not a bad way to start the day.
Frown: More rain.
edit* Shame on the media for all the "Not Guilty" headlines that show a smug Zimmerman smiling from ear to ear. The guy showed no emotion when the verdict was read. Way to rile people up during a time when people need to stay calm.

Smile: Saw a fantastic production of Pirates of Penzance - musicals from 1879 can still be hilarious.

I bet is was better than the movie adaptation starring Kevin Kline.MrPopo wrote:Smile: Saw a fantastic production of Pirates of Penzance - musicals from 1879 can still be hilarious.
Smile: The drizzling of rain stopped earlier, and before I could put on some junk clothes, I heard the lawn mower going. My wife is pretty great.
Bonus smile: Found a throwback White Sox hat online for about twenty smackers that doesn't have a flat bill with ten stickers on it. Can't stand the style of those caps, especially when people leave the stickers on. Almost as ugly as the "block" hats that Marky Mark wore.

You must have a good mower, because I can't cut the grass right after a rain. The mower clogs up and then I get to go on the adventure of poking the grass clumps out of the blades while hoping there's no movement left in them.Luke wrote:Smile: The drizzling of rain stopped earlier, and before I could put on some junk clothes, I heard the lawn mower going. The yard was damp, not wet, due to a slight drizzle* of rain. I have a troy-built push mower, and I have no idea if it's a good mower or not, only that it gets the job done.
*fyi: the difference between a light rain and a drizzle is the size of the drops, a drizzle having smaller drops.

I have a good mower and it does nothing w/wet grass. None of the mowers i've ever had have been able to get through wet grass. Damp, maybe, but we're talking a few hours after the rain and the sun partly drying it up.
Smile / Ticked: Driving the kids to their Grandma's place in Rochester for "cousins week". They love it and in theory it's nice to have a break from the kids, but the reality is we start to miss them the first night. We'll still have the youngest (3yo) so it isn't like we can actually get major projects done - she still requires the most attention of course.

I avoid mowing until the ground dries up, the grass might be pulled out by the roots. Okay any excuse not to do yard work!
