Fair enough, mate. No worries!

The current system that I own is from the second generation of the console's lifespan, and it still works fine with my best cartridges. A lot of the games that no longer work were bought decades ago, so most of their contacts have remained quite dirty. I've been able to rub off some of the dirt by using rubbing alcohol and Q-tips, but the rest are too dry to remove. I suppose you could say that the games technically aren't destroyed, but access to them is a bit tricky. The good thing is that I mostly own common games.

What do you mean they're too dry to remove?

It doesnt matter the age of the system, the games work. If the games do not work, either the contacts are dirty, damaged or destroyed on the game or the system.

If your pins are not shiny, and some ripped and folded paper towel or qtip with 91% alcohol isn't going to cut it, you need to up your game into some light abrasives like a magic eraser with the alcohol on it. Sure it may if you're furious sand a slight bit of a scuff into the pin itself but it will get the crap off. If that fails, it's the system unless there's a physical issue elsewhere on the cart. Since they're cheap commons as you said, there's no harm experimenting.

There are still a few, mostly sports games like Roger Clemens' MVP Baseball or International Tennis Tour.

For some reason, the VGPC overall graph for SNES is screwed up at the moment and only goes to 2012.

Besides sports games, there are many I can find locally for $5-$10.

When you put it in that color, then it makes more SNES-e (sense?)

The prices for many SNES games are crazy, but the good deals I can find make up for that pretty much.

I bought The Hunt for Red October last weekend for $1.99. It's still doable to find stuff like this. I found Sonic Blast Man the same weekend for $8.99. Not where it used to be, around $5, but a lot better than the $15 it currently goes for.
