An empire of elaborately sculpted action figures that look fantastic but break three days after you take them out of the blister pack

some stuff that's out today that I think some of you guys might want be interested in...

Image

The Mighty Captain Marvel - Carol Danvers has been a big part of Marvel in 2016. She led the opposition to Tony Stark in Civil War II for instance. And this is her new series.

Image

Monsters Unleashed #1 - first issue of Marvel's first big crossover event of 2017. Has monsters. The nice thing is that this event is relatively small. Five main issues I believe, and then like 7 crossovers if you want to even look at those.

Image

Revolutionaries #1 - first issue of IDW's first big crossover event of 2017. Last year was Revolution, which invented the "Hasbro-verse" and crossed over Transformers, GI Joe, ROM, MASK... so this is a continuation, but a good jumping in point for anyone interested in any of those properties.

Holy Asian Cthulhu... Monstress by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda is insanely good and horrifically creepy and raw.

Yes.

I thought it was pretty crappy.

They did a bad job of justifying Captain Marvel's side so it just feels like Carol is holding the idiot ball the entire time.

I won't spoil the ending but boy was it dumb and utterly pointless.

As a side note I've been enjoying the new Infamous Iron Man book where Doom has decided to try on this super hero gig after failing miserably at the job of being God.

it was pointless, yeah. I have three issues, but never finished. I was reading so many related series and crossovers though that I managed to follow what little 'major' things happened (augmented via Wikipedia, CBR, etc...). But nobody I know that read the whole thing liked it.

That said, it set up at least a few interesting stories. It's why Doom took the place of Starks in The Infamous Iron Man. It's why She-Hulk is suffering PTSD in the new Hulk series.

But yeah. At least the previews I've read for Monsters Unleashed seem like a fun event.

EDIT: Shit you edited while i was typing. Yeah Infamous Iron Man is awesome. Love it. Did you read Guardians #15 by chance? It was a tie-in w/ Infamous #1. You'd dig it.
