Frown: So I've been close to getting this new job... for several weeks now. There's a music shop not far from me that a friend of a friend works in. I was told that they "go through" guitar techs really fast, so the next time a position opens up I'll be up for it. So then I get the word, they need a new tech. I emailed my resume to my friend's friend. Weeks go by, no word. All the while I'm hearing their current tech is a drug addict that owes the owner money and some messed up situation. Then I hear he just got his third DUI. Then I finally hear back from them... the morning I'm leaving on a family vacation!

First I hear that my resume didn't have anything guitar related on it... which is just completely untrue. I mean, I tailored my resume for guitar tech positions! I tell my friend to tell them to read it again. Then I'm told that it didn't say "set ups" in the resume. OK, it only said everything BUT that (guitar repair, maintenance, modifications, etc). So my friend told me to send him the resume and he'd put "set ups" in there for me, print it out and bring it down to the shop (since I was on vacation).

After all this, I question why they don't keep their techs long and if I even want to work for them. But I decide, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

So, some more time goes by without hearing anything. Then I'm finally told that the friend of my friend will be calling me. About a week goes by, he finally calls. I felt like I answered all his questions really good and that I was what they needed. Then some more time passes and I hear all this BS that I don't do what they're looking for and that I want too much money for setups... I wont go into the details and make a wall of text, but after hearing this I decided that they can go fuck themselves.

Smile: My friend told me he has another friend that works in another music shop.

"I try not to stick out" says the guy who is covered in tattoos, boasts about sleeping with madonna, has three tell all books (possibly more) and dresses in drag. Great rebounder, awful person.

Awful might be going a bit too far. Delusional? Sure. Aaron Hernandez is an awful person. Dennis has mental issues and grew up with severe family issues, but he has never really hurt anyone other than himself. Attention whore for sure, but in the grand scheme of things MJ is probably a bigger douche than Dennis.

Multiple sexual assault accusations say otherwise.

Possible extortion? Sure. Possible that dennis raped women? Sure.

Good grief. That reminds me of the guy I worked for last year....
The first time I went to meet him he went on and on about how quickly he "went through workers....people don't have any work ethic....I guess they don't want to get paid...." yadda yadda. I didn't think much of it, but really, I guess that should have been my first clue.

My second should have come a couple days later. He was supposed to send me the images and information I needed so that I could work on what he wanted, but hadn't yet. No biggie. He'd said he'd send it to me soon and I met him on a Friday, so I figured he might have been waiting for Monday. Instead, I get a snarky email Sunday saying "Are you interested in working for me?" At that point, I sort of wanted to say "No, not really." But I held my tongue and, as professionally as possible, told him yes, but he still needed to send me what he'd said he was going to.

It just got worse from there. He'd be perfectly cordial on the phone, or in person, but when he'd email me I'd get insulted and cursed at. If you don't like something I worked on, then by all means, tell me and I'll change it. It's for your product and I want you to be happy with it. Don't tell me it's fine, use it, and then a month later tell me it "looks like sh*&." If you've changed your mind that's one thing, but I don't need to be needlessly insulted a month after the fact :?

After 6 weeks, I have my desktop back up and running... and it's still not quite right. I've had it up to here at this point. I'm ready to throw it in the garbage and just go back to gaming on consoles. I'd happily take back my old card with the obnoxious fan. At least everything seemed to work properly if a bit buzzy sounding.

:D Weekend starts later today.

:D I've been super excited about getting this Ghost Mantis. I feel like a kid that's getting a puppy and is getting over prepared for the arrival of his new best friend. Silly, I know.

 Noise's story

:( I have to do thiiiiings this weekend. I hate doing things. I like staying inside and doing nothing.

 Our network has just been... there is no word to describe how terrible it's been all week. Luckily this was only a three day work week for me. Very little work has been getting done, but they can't blame it on me.

EDIT:
:| Despite how stupid I am, some of my co-workers really amaze me with their repeated "dumbassery".

Yup. Another A/C story.

SMILE! So I narrowed it down to two companies, and after days of negotiations, I talked the company I wanted to go with down 10% of their final asking price. That's well over $400usd, and over $1,000usd what they first quoted.

Better units (Trane), better customer service, better warranty (10 years parts, 1 year labor, zero service charges), and the best part of it all is that I don't feel like I'm being taken for a ride.

I'm telling ya, you never take the first offer. It's hot, they know you need a/c, and they don't expect you to sweat it out.

This guy sweated it out and is basically paying for parts and labor. Freon costs are insane, but I was able to talk that down as well. It was me giving two companies a take it or leave it option (after days of negotiating of course) and the company I wanted took it.

Dudes, you have no idea how exhausting this process has been, and knowing that my friends have paid well over 6k for similar units, I can't help but feel great about this. Just like buying any big purchase, I research until I feel as if I have the upper hand, throw out a flat number, make sure the company makes a profit, but not an excessive profit.

I just saved three mortgage payments and I feel pretty spectacular.

What made me smile today? Working hard as all heck on schoolwork, only to realize that this weekend is EVO 2013! This is the superbowl of videogames for me and I can not express how excited I am for it.

Also, I am happy about my school decisions. I have been taking summer classes compacted into 7 1/2 weeks. this portion includes trigonometry with an adjunct teacher. There is a huge language barrier and it has been tough, BUT, it is excessively easier because of the the previous teacher I had. She set up a great foundation with principles that still apply in this class. Everything that was taught to me stuck and gave an incredible work ethic on how to approach math.

That's great stuff. I was in a complete class of Finance students who didn't learn squat the first semester, and when Finance 2 rolled around it was like having to take finance 1 all over again.

Take a minute to thank your professor for giving you a leg up. Means a lot to them.
