I saw my first David Lynch film: Mulholland Drive.
I liked it and got most of the meaning out of it. I didn't get the past of sexual abuse the protagonist went through, though.

you guys suck at moviesBurningDoom wrote:Agreed. It was hard to take seriously after a certain point.Jmustang1968 wrote:I wouldn't say I am in agreement. While it was entertaining and decent, it is not near the amazing spectacle of a movie you guys made it out to be. While the ending was cool with all the mayhem and stuff that comes out, the entire premise of it was meh to me.

@BurningDoom: being upset that you couldn't take Cabin seriously is as silly as *cough* someone being upset he couldn't see the humor in the first Nightmare on Elm St.
But seriously, surprised you weren't into it. You generally have pretty good taste in horror movies - especially shlocky fun ones like Return of the Living Dead. I'd think this would be up your alley.
@JMustang: How into horror are you? I have no idea your taste in movies. I'd say about 85-90% of what I watch is horror. I feel like the more horror you're obsessed with, the more likely you'd be to appreciate this film.
@nobodyinparticular: What is that makes so many Australian women naturally attractive? Is that a natural selection that's been a defense mechanism against all the poisonous spiders and snakes they have there or something?

I enjoy horror. I didn't dislike the movie, but just think it is above average. Not near the spectacle you guys make it out to be.noiseredux wrote:@BurningDoom: being upset that you couldn't take Cabin seriously is as silly as *cough* someone being upset he couldn't see the humor in the first Nightmare on Elm St.

Watts and Fisher are excellent examples of what I was getting at... but was in reference to Ana Hutchenson (the blonde in Cabin in the Woods) only backing up the phenomenon made by the list you put together.Stark wrote: Let me know when I get to the right one:

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I wasn't suggesting you don't enjoy it. I was genuinely asking: how into horror are you? Casual fan? You've seen some of the classics? You watch nothing but horror all the time? Just trying to get a gauge on your interest in the genre, as it's been rare for me to meet anyone who saw it and didn't think it was excellent.Jmustang1968 wrote: I enjoy horror. Obviously I also think that if you're not at least a pretty major fan of the genre, you may not appreciate the hundreds of little nods and references throughout.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I don't know how to classify it beyond that I enjoy he genre. I've seen a lot of movies. I picked up on references, and while appreciate them, I prefer a movie on its own merits instead of a fan service fest I guess? I think I laughed or rolled my eyes for unintended reasons at times.noiseredux wrote:I wasn't suggesting you don't enjoy it. I was genuinely asking: how into horror are you? Casual fan? But the overall premise of the movie I found dumb.

MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING
Yup, it's a movie you would expect to see on TBS on a Saturday morning...and love it.
Playfully but carefully written, excellent casting, and all around a great popcorn date flick.

But Dave *could* be right. You might suck at movies.
