So far my strategy has been to buy more bookshelves. I'm up to three full size and one half size and they're all pretty full. I could fit in another half size, and I probably will pick one up at some point. After that it'll be expanding into a second room (right now they're all in my office).

I just put books on top of my books because there's not enough room for my books and my games

My wife and I have this in our living room:
Image
This picture is from before everything was organized

It is three deep billy bookcases, and two half size standard depth. The reason we got the deep ones is that the bottom of each bookcase with doors holds boardgames. The way it is divided out is simple. The middle bookcase has books we cannot replace in it, it will soon have some catches on the top and bottom of it so little ones cannot get into it. We took all other books and separated them by author and series, if a series had alot of authors we put them all together (ie Battletech or Star Wars). We shuffled a few titles around to get the books to fit on the shelves. This does not include any textbooks or references books, just fiction.

Granted, like TheSegaSaturnGuy, I do most of my reading now on my Kindle. Some books I have just do not exist in Kindle form - like anything Dinotopia or written by Ricky Jay.

Tomorrow, when no one is looking I'm going to throw in some cooked chicken in with the cooked turkey and see if anyone notices.

At my parents house I would notice because the chicken breast wouldn't be all dried out and make me want to choke.

People who got lots of books, why don't you store them away in boxes in a store? If you know you will not be reading them, and you will not display them as a show off, why not store them in a cabinet or sell them?

I tend to keep books I tend to go back to as references (Dictionary, Non-Fiction, Tutorials) around, stuff like novels I will never read again(or any time soon), store them away. Or sell them... Or donate them...
