Isn't that kind of shit why everyone in Russia now has a dashboard cam?dsheinem wrote:Ticked: This past weekend I got two bullshit/entrapment tickets in Hoboken, NJ when I was there visiting friends. Basically a plainclothes officer stepped in to a crosswalk, waited for me to slow down and yield (which I did), then stopped walking as if to let me go ahead, and then (when I took my foot off the brake), decided to start walking again - causing me to slam on my brakes in order to not hit him. I was slapped with failure to yield and careless driving.
I want to investigate entering a plea of not guilty by mail with my side of the story and, potentially, letters from people who were with me in the vehicle to support it. I have called for the past two days to investigate about doing this, but the officer has yet to turn in the ticket. The kicker is the ticket requires me to enter my plea a week before the summons date for court, which is now scheduled for a week from today. So I'm in a Catch-22 of wanting to abide by the laws for pleading not guilty but not yet being able to because the jackass cop won't file the ticket.
I should add that I don't use "jackass cop" lightly, but this guy was a giant prick, despite me being polite. He asked me if "that's how they teach you to drive in PA?" as well as stuff like "maybe you shouldn't have been going 65mph" (I was going under the speed limit, which was about 30mph). He also told me to stop in the middle of the intersection to run the plates and give me the ticket, and I had to suggest that maybe it would be a better idea to pull over insteadFWIW it seemed like there were other cars getting pulled over for the same stuff there, so I feel like perhaps it was a "sting" operation. Nonetheless, it was bullshit and I can't even make my case yet. I've had a perfect driving record for more than a dozen years or more, and so this is just infuriating.

Yup. My friends in the car mentioned that as well. Apparently they are useful in Hoboken, too.MrPopo wrote:Isn't that kind of shit why everyone in Russia now has a dashboard cam?dsheinem wrote:Ticked: This past weekend I got two bullshit/entrapment tickets in Hoboken, NJ when I was there visiting friends. You would have been in your rights to ask, "Is that how officers actually cut their hair in NJ?". Not a smart move to ask that of course.dsheinem wrote:

Bring your driving record, your insurance, the citation, and say "Looking for a dismissal. My lawyer said to give you this, this, and this and to shut up". It's possible to get a dismissal, but I'd pm prfsnl_gmr jic.

You know what would have worked even better? Violent retaliation! You should have gotten a shotgun, walked back in, and told him to put his hands on top of his head and lay flat on the ground. If he does anything else, even turn around, take his leg off at the knee. If he wants to act like an animal, put him down like one.fastbilly1 wrote:It wasnt that bad. And once that's done, calmly take his driver's license, go to the home address listed, spray it with rounds and a couple of makeshift explosive devices, and then leave the license in the driveway. This is a good way to express your discontent with whomever he may live with, especially if it is his parents.
We're short one less asshole on welfare, and now his neighborhood and community lives in fear. Sure, there's prison time...but once there, you can build a criminal empire to surely top whatever his dumb ass was trying to build.

I don't want to get up at 5am to drive 2.5 hours (or more with AM traffic) to court, spend $60 or so in gas and tolls, and be lucky if I'm home for dinner without a fine anyway.Luke wrote:You would have been in your rights to ask, "Is that how officers actually cut their hair in NJ?". Or you could just fart on the guy. Why cops don't have "fart guns" is a step backward towards non deadly but silent take downs. You don't need to taze me, a decent dog fart will leave me heaving and incapacitated for a few seconds.Ack wrote:lots of words...

It could be more cost effective to go to court, bit all depends on who, what, where, and why? Court can be quite silly at times.

WTF. you at least told the manager that you were threatened and made a police report where they can use cam footage, right?fastbilly1 wrote:Ticked - Walked to the nearby McDonalds for lunch, I was going to go out with my reps but they had a last second thing come up. That is all fine, I like McDonalds every once and a while, and the walk is not bad at all - gets me out of the office for about twenty minutes round trip. Well their was a big line, both of the tellers were going to one line and it was about fifteen deep. I stood there for a bit and then a fella walks in the other door. He asks the people at the front which line they are waiting in and they explain that it is a joined line. He goes to the back of the line and waits about ten minutes, right about when I got up front, and decides he is going to bypass the other ten people and go to the teller. He looks at me and tells me to stay there. I told him that there is a line for a reason and he flashes a gun at me real quick and says if you move I will kill you. He then orders for ten people sitting in the building then gets mad when they wont take his food stamps. After hassling the manager for a solid ten minutes, he pulls out a wad of $100s and pays. Honestly, if I had been having a worse day, well lets just say the nearby chair would have ended up broken over the guy.
