I think I read that the Vita TV will allow you to remote play any PS4 game on a different TV. For, and the Vita stuff, this may be a good purchase along side a PS4.

wow this vita tv sounds really cool, I really want to play vita games (especially ys celceta) but I already have a 3ds and psp which are my go to portables for traveling, I really don't need a 3rd portable to bring with me. Can't wait to see how this pans out.

I don't get the point of this Vita TV... Sounds like some games won't be compatible. Why not just release cables that connect the Vita to the TV (so the Vita itself is still the "controller")? Wasn't there something like that for the PSP?

I think the Vita TV is the only reason those cables don't exist.

yes. Those were called "component cables" on PSP.

But I do kind of get the allure of this thing. It's more competing with things like Ouya or the upcoming Steambox. Just a small box to connect to TV and download games to. I have to say that with my recent 3DS acquisition, my Vita interest plummeted even more so than before. I don't really feel I *need* another portable right now. BUT, Vita TV is a much more wallet-friendly entry. For about $100 I could get a little console that plays Vita, PSP and PS1 stuff on my TV with a controller. That's a lot more enticing than dropping $250 or whatever the Vita costs.

Haha okay... I didn't know if they had a special fancy name beyond that.

They could create a "docking station" and special controller that hooks up to the Vita... Ya know, kinda like that other current-gen handheld that everyone loves. 8)

I'll get a Vita TV. I already have a Vita, but I don't enjoy handhelds. I only got it for the games. This'll be far superior for me, I can finally play Ragnarok Odyssey and other games without having my neck hurt to high heaven because I'm looking down at the screen for hours.

Plus I can finally stream Vita games without breaking the bank with one of these things:

I do like portables... but like I said, the 3DS has me covered now. So yeah I could def see myself getting this for around $100. Heck, I could just sell my PSP and some bundled games to pay for that even.

I'm wondering... even if it's not announced for US, shouldn't it still work just fine in the US if you import one? Isn't the Vita region-free?

Yea. Vita is region free. However, this device looks like it may have Japan only video streaming services. Not sure if you'd have to wait for a US version to get things like Netflix and what not.

no concern. I've got Netflix on Wii, PS3, 360, 3DS... I really don't need any other way to watch Netflix, haha. All I'd care about is getting it to work w/ US PSN. Which in my head should be no problem right? I know you can use a PSP on any region of PSN. I'm assuming Vita's the same way? And assuming that this is just a Vita w/ the screen and controls ripped off.
