That's a tough one but I'd have to hang up my Sega fanboy hat if I didn't go with Shinobi. Shinobi III is one of the top action games of its era.

And Shadow Dancer is freakin' awesome.

The 3DS game is really good as well if anyone out there hasn't tried it.

The NES Ninja Gaiden games and the Xbox games I don't consider to be the same series in any way.

I feel the same about the PS2 Shinobi and most games with "in name only" re-inventions

So the final mission of Valkyria Chronicles 3 is a real bastard. You WILL fail it the first time because they bait and switch on you, and once the switch happens if you didn't see it coming you're going to get relentlessly hammered by artillery that will mess up every attempt you make to finish it off if you weren't already prepared. It's a shame because the rest of the game felt completely fair.

I like Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi.

I'm terrible at all that stuff though. The only game - in either series - that I've actually been able to complete is arcade Shinobi. I've come close with SMS Shinobi and NES Ninja Gaiden, but I'm not there yet.

Which Shinobi game is the best? Shinobi III? The original Arcade game? The Arcade sequel?

As a guy who had a SNES in the 90s and only got into the Genesis as an adult... I 100% agree with these statements. Shinobi wins hands down.

Also, because it cannot be said enough times, Shadow Dancer is freakin' awesome.
Have: Sega Genesis, SNES, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari 800XL, PC, N3DS XL, Wii U, GBA, Xbox One, Switch

That's a really subjective question since they're all fairly different from one another. Shinobi III AKA The Super Shinobi II is my pick but I'm not sure there's a majority opinion.

I think most people would either side with Revenge or III though, the two "Super Shinobi" games.

Revenge is at its best if you have the original version in all of its copyright infringing glory.
