I suck at replacing old batteries so I generally just emulate SNES RPGs now (even the ones I own). Hook the computer to a TV with a VGA cable + Super Smart Joy controller adapter = I can barely tell the difference.

Still playing Demon's Souls (almost have the platinum trophy) and been playing Persona on PSP before bed.

Don't try to rush through the main quest. Unlike Oblivion, everything in the game has a fixed level. So you will need to periodically take breaks from the main quest to gain levels and gear. When you first get to Balmorra you probably want to do some guild quests before continuing along the main quest.

Always have a silver weapon on hand. Ghosts can only be harmed by silver weapons, enchanted weapons, or magic. The latter two are a limited resource.

Roll a custom class. You really want to specialize in the game, so if you want your melee weapon to be spears, don't set as a major or minor skill any other melee weapon. Most of the classes have multiple armor or weapon skills tagged.

Use either light armor or heavy armor. Unarmored caps at 65 at skill level 100 (which is pretty low) and medium armor doesn't have an end game option.

Remember that in Oblivion you can wear a full set of clothes along with your armor. High end clothing has very high enchant limits, so you can use this to gain additionail enchantment effects.

Unlike Oblivion your block skill is auto use and the game rolls your to-hit every attack. Early game combat can be very frustrating as you miss entirely when the game shows you hitting, and block becomes hard to train.

Speechcraft is completely broken. You can always bribe someone up to max affection, and with a high speechcraft you can easily get 100 affection with admire. And you can murder people by taunting them until they attack. You are never locked out of speechcraft like you are in Oblivion; instead the checks get harder as their affection drops.

Finally playing Lost Odyssey. It's pretty good so far, I just got to the two magic worm bosses around Grand Staff. I'm also still playing Dark Souls trying to get the platinum.

The only boss battle I had an issue with was the damn battle against that bird at the start.

We'll have to see what bruno says. That shit was annoying, plus the surprise.

Just beat it, that was pretty tough. Can I look forward to a lot of the boss battles being that hard?

I take it the surprise was the ambush fight afterwards?

Same here. Who would think that healing would make the battle difficult. Kinda went against my instinct, but going on a rampage and attacking like mad seemed to be the sure-fire way to kill that damn bird.
