GTX 1080 arrived Saturday. I also splurged and bought an Acer Predator XB271HU to go with it, and seem to have lucked out in the QC department there. No dead pixels I can find. I'm used to IPS glow anyway.

I had intended to swap it in for one of my 24" screens, and use that elsewhere in the house...but then found it didn't quite work how I wanted. So, I redid my computer desk for triple monitor setup, and swapped to using my old receiver for audio. The latter allowed me to reintegrate the subwoofer I'd built, and gives the potential to set up surround channels.

...and then I wound up spending most of my gaming time playing Dark Souls, which basically doesn't take advantage of any of the new stuff. I did see substantial improvements in things that did when I tested 'em though.

awesome, man! You have *almost* the same monitor as me. I love it so much. Though, I know what you're saying... I spend a lot of time admiring the taxing graphics of Hearthstone. :\

Very nice, I havent been able to find a 1080 yet, waiting on more stock to arrive at online retailers. I cant wait to pair it up with my 1440 gsync monitor.

you have the same 970 as me - right? The Zotac? If you do get a 1080, maybe hit me up. I've never messed w/ SLI, but it's a thought.

Well, I mean, it's a nice setup either way, old games or new. I was just laughing at myself for making another go at Dark Souls as the first real use of it. Maybe this time I'll manage to stick with it though.

At least it wasn't more FFXI I guess, other than logging in for daily stuff.

I watched http://www.nowinstock.net/ - more particularly, the comments section, as people seem to post Newegg links before the stock actually shows. Still a narrow window to actually complete a purchase, but they do appear from time to time.

Yes I do. I will keeep in mind. I was thinking of transplanting this one to my old TV PC that died on me and resurrecting it.

You should flash your R9 290 with the R9 390 bios, it uses the memory straps and gives a lovely free performance boost. Around 400 odd points on Firestrike and games liek Metro Last Light saw an average fps hike of 4-5fps.

Worth it for a free upgrade.

Is something like this stable and safe em? I'm not too knowledgeable, so I want to be sure it's worth it before leaping headlong into it.
