Re: Together Retro: Phantasy Star Online
Took down the dragon pretty easily.
I've been doing all the quests. Is it safe to say that if I complete these I'll typically be at a sufficient level by the time I reach the bosses?
Helped out a bickering wife and husband. Now it's time for........ the caves.
EDIT:
Some more thoughts.
What's the best way to develop the MAG? I was feeding him every time I encountered an item I couldn't pick up (in other words - if I couldn't pick up a monomate because I had ten I would feed the MAG one and then pick up the item), but I recently read that it's better to consistently feed him the same type of item over and over. Thoughts?
And is it true that the Xbox version of the game can't even be played at all - even the offline mode? That would be a bummer.

Here's a chart for what to feed your mags.
http://www.pso-world.com/sections.php?o ... artid=1021
And really the question comes down to whether or not you want your character to have max stats at their max level which requires you to balance your mag, the materials you eat and the armor units you intend to use. You'd have to look up max stat plans for the version of PSO you're playing if you intended to take it that far.
But in general hunters want Power>Dex>Def(because you have to have at least 5 in def no matter what)>Mind (ideally 0, you can make up for it in materials and if you're a cast you certainly don't want to waste any points in this)
Forces generally want Mind>Dex>Def>Power unless you're playing one of the human forces and intend to do melee damage then you might want some Power (though again I think you can just make up for the deficit with power materials easier). I've never done a melee force build myself though.
Think of mags and materials as "skill points" in other RPGs, though while you can always make a new mag you are stuck with the materials you eat so eat them wisely.
A lot of people tend to have early game mags and end game mags as well. An early game mag would have almost all power or almost all mind depending on your class while an end game mag is more balanced and works in conjunction with the materials you've consumed to try and max out all of your stats or as many as you can instead of your primary damage stat which will max out early on with an early game mag, meaning there will be wasted points as you continue to level up.
Re: Together Retro: Phantasy Star Online
Finally had time to get Schthack going.
Leveled up once. Need to configure my 360 stick and figure out the hot keys better. (In the fifteen minutes I played I could not figure out how to get to the normal start list to display my items like on the Dreamcast version.)
I didn't see any Racketeers tonight so I'm gonna hit the hay. Hopefully I bump into someone tomorrow night that can help me get a few levels on my Force. She's a pushover right now.

Wow, I'm really glad to see so many Racketeers joining in on this one right from the start of the month. Even more awesome that even Gunstar's GF got in on the fun!
Was it great playing with a full 4-person party? You guys should've taken pics!
Omerta, the default Menu button on 360 is you have to press one of the analog sticks in. But yeah, go in and re-map stuff to your liking.
BTW, I think my favorite VBD moment so far was when he told a whole lobby of people that I smell.

How do you take screen shots on PSO again?
4 person party was fun, clearing dungeons is a lot more smooth. We did up to 2-1 I think.

My favorite thing to happen thus far was when Violent By Design, Gunstar Green and his GF took down the dragon and the dead dragon fell on Gunstar's GF instantly killing her.

There should be a folder named bmp in your game directory. If there's not, create one. It'll automatically save screen shots there when you press print screen.Violent By Design wrote:How do you take screen shots on PSO again?

though I had to disable keyboard controls in the menu to get the printscreen to work myself.Gunstar Green wrote:There should be a folder named bmp in your game directory. If there's not, create one.
