Showing off my display cabinet last night to a couple friends, I quick threw in Vitua Fighter 2. Figured that would bring back some memories. Been a couple years since the last time I played and I gotta say, the game for the most part still holds up(looks great too!). Aside from the jump mechanics(which are silly) and the dumb taunts that get old fast, its still very solid fighter all around.

I would like to call myself pretty decent at the game but even after all these years I still have never beaten Dural :x

Been playing some Daytona USA Circuit Edition (JP) recently, awesome game. I've been in a Saturn mood for a couple of days now, so i'm probably going to play some other games from my collection.

Might try to finish Panzer Dragoon Zwei, it's the only one in the entire series i haven't finished yet.

Daaayyyytonaaaa! is easily one of the best(of the few) racers on the Saturn. Gotta love that corny music too! :P I would only put Sega Rally and WiPEOUT ahead of it.

Is their anything different/better on the JP version?

"Few" racers on Saturn? Like 75% of my Saturn collection is racers, because they're cheap, lol.

I thought of these popular ones right off the top of my head:

-Daytona USA
-Daytona USA: Championship Circuit
-F1 Challenge
-Hang-On GP
-Nascar '98
-Need For Speed
-Road Rash
-Sega Rally Championship
-Sonic R
-Virtua Racing

And I'm not a big racing fan, so I'm sure there's plenty out there I haven't heard of.

-Sega Touring Car Championship
-Gale Racer
-Cyber Speedway
-Touge 1 & 2
-Shutoko '97
-Wangan Dead Heat
-Initial D
-Choro Q
-Street Racer

There's a number of good racing games for the Saturn. Probably still fewer than on the Playstation or N64, though.

My Saturn collection is really poor.

Saturn Bomberman
Virtua Fighter 2
Fighters Megamix
Fighting Vipers
International Soccer
Athlete Kings
Baku Baku
Firestorm Thunderblade 2
Worldwide Soccer
Sega Rally
Soviet Strike

Bomberman is the only game I fire up the Saturn for lately. Fighting games get old fast alone, and sports games are of no interest to me. Can anyone suggest some good 2D platformers for the Saturn? I know there were many in Japan we never got.

I'm also gonna just say this, the PAL cases for Saturn games are abysmal. A strange hybrid between cardboard and plastic with nothing to grip the manual. What were they thinking??

I wouldn't call that collection poor at all. You just need some friends to play with!

That said, check out Astal, Shinobi Legions, and the Saturn port of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

My Saturn collection is mainly made up of fighting games...

Shinobi X is rare and expensive and Astal wasn't released here I don't think. I also heard the Saturn port of SOTN is pretty bad. Even importing all three of those games would cost me £40+ each and I'm not in a position to spend that much on individual games. Will make a mental note of Astal and Shinobi though, they look great.

Ah, you're in PAL territory! Sorry, I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help there. But if you get the opportunity to pick up Astal and Shinobi for cheap, I highly recommend taking it. Both are excellent games.
