Also, how much of a hit was the PS3 in Japan? I remember it picked up steam very slowly there, so perhaps Japanese developers are not ready to abandon the platform yet.

It's almost assuredly being released in Japan later because the Japanese games aren't ready and shooters don't sell in Japan. Like I was saying earlier, the cultural difference is pretty evident considering how they showcased various games.

I would imagine, it wouldn't be uncommon to find a Killzone fan in Japan is about as common as an Atlier fan is in the US.

I would replace Killzone with Resistance seeing as Killzone is actually a European series, but I think you're right. I know for a fact that there are FPS fans in Japan but they're nowhere near as prevalent as they are in the US.

Is this a Japanese only thing? Most titles are popular else where too like COD and GTAs . I can tell I am very far from America. Is there any other place in the world that has a different gaming preference?

Any way, why would developers have enough time to create FPSs for the American market but not enough time to create RPGs for the Japanese market?

I agree that consoles should be delayed so it could be released with a collection of worthwhile games, but in the age where people want to see super upgrades on their mobile phones on yearly basis you can only release things out there as fast as lightening.

I was really talking about this "Japan = East, everyone else = West" sort of mentality that a lot of Japanese companies seem to have. I was only saying Atelier in the US, because I don't have any frame of reference for Canada or the Netherlands or something. My point was, "West v. Japan" and how things are viewed. Most of the sentiments I'm seeing are very Japanese exclusive. So it wasn't a US v Japan sort of argument.

RPG fans in the west are still very much alive and kickin', we just seem to have sat this generation out. We were spoiled with the PS1 and PS2 anyway, so it's okay :)

Did they ever confirm installing games to the hard drive?

Will the ps4 be able to run PS2 and PSX games?
If its a 2013 intel computer , I am guessing it has the power to emulate ps2/psx games. I know it does not do ps, they will do it streaming over the internet but what about ps2/psx

As far as things you can find on the PSN Store, then I would think yes (and also counting whatever the Gaikai thing turns out to be). But sticking a disc in and having it play, no.

Also, the PS4 is based on an AMD APU architecture, not Intel.

It's certainly powerful enough to emulate the PS1 and PS2, but I think Sony would rather charge us for downloads than just let us play the PS1 and PS2 games. Even if emulation is used, a lot of testing is required for each game. I was actually surprised when I heard the non-BC PS3s would support PS1 games. Not because it was technically hard, but because I thought Sony wanted to sell more classics.

Well, they probably realized that anyone who wants to play PS1 games already has a PS1.
