Ack wrote:No, but it did have Midway, Rare, Nintendo, Interplay, Culture Brain, Konami, Atari, etc. If you want a traditional 2D fighter, you've got Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Killer Instinct Gold, and Rakuga Kids. 3D fighters include Flying Dragon (which has 2D gameplay as well), Deadly Arts, Dual Heroes, Mortal Kombat 4, War Gods, Bio F.R.E.A.K.S., and Xena: Warrior Princess. The two ClayFighter games parody elements of these series and include super bars styled after the Street Fighter series along with combos like Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat-esque fatalities for a mix of 2D and 3D action. Arena fighters included Tom and Jerry: Fists of Furry and Powerpuff Girls: Chemical X-Traction. Fighter's Destiny and Fighter Destiny 2 were point-based fighters, while Dark Rift and Mace: The Dark Age were weapons-based 3D fighters. Super Smash Bros. was a fighter in a completely different vein from the rest of its genre.

All of it matters. I'm just sorry most folks can't step out of their limited worldview to see that there are fighting games beyond whatever Capcom and SNK can produce.

I just want to say that Powerpuff Girls: Checmical X-Traction is awful.

Are you shooting for a complete set, Ack?

He finished a complete set a couple years ago - including all the Japanese fighting games.

D'oh!

Prices are climbing on stuff. Wish I would've nabbed a lot of those games a while back when I had the chance to get them cheap.

Oh well.

Get the blockbuster exclusives, Rakuga Kids PAL, and Flying Dragon 2 (JPN), as soon as possible. Those are the ones that will be stupidly expensive later.

That's the plan. I've seen Clay Fighter hitting triple digits just for a cart already.

how close are you to a complete set? How many N64 games were released in US anyway? I paid/pay very little attention to the console. Carts only or complete?

I'm (slowwwly) going for a complete US DC set but I purposely have no plan of action at all. Meaning how you mention planning to scoop up the pricier games ASAP. I purposely have avoided any kind of strategy to collecting other than "whatever I find complete that's a good deal." It's been kind of fun that way since it makes it really random.

Going for cart only, and I'm quite a far ways away from a complete set I'm afraid. There were 296 carts released in the US, so far I've got 43.

hey, me too. i'm purposely trying to get disc-only copies, so i can case them in white DVD cases with art from TCP. it's cheaper and it's a fun way to display the games. the only "pricey" games i have right now are MvC, MvC2, Giga Wing, Gauntlet Legends, and Sonic Adventure. everything else is pretty common/cheap.

yeah I remember you mentioning that. I won't say that TCP cases look bad or anything. Many of them look very nice. But I'm just way too neurotic for that sort of thing, which is why I'm going CIB only. Not to derail the thread of course, but you can see what's in my DC collection here: http://www.rfgeneration.com/cgi-bin/col ... |&region=U if you're interested in seeing.

for some reason i prefer the look of the white DVD cases with the huge, colorful titles staring back at me. but, yeah, i'll stop derailing the thread now.

back on topic FUCK THE N64 IT IS HORRIBLE.
