On a side note, I don't think GTA can work in any other country. Sleeping Dogs was a true "oriental" GTA that was quite good, despite lacking the brash antics of GTA. I don't think Rockstar will choose any "foreign" regions for GTA6.

The 2D GTA's were pure gangster mayhem. The new ones are about that as well as blatant social commentary. There is a lot of crime and corruption around the world but in the USA it's glamorised and universally recognisable.

There's plenty of social commentary in GTA, that's for sure. Maybe it's not at all intelligent or accurate, but it's there.
