That's a really handy tip. Might try it on my most used vmu. Thanks!

I like the beep. It's like the Dreamcast is saying hello to Daddy.

Yeah, if I turned on my DC and there was no beep I would think something is wrong! Same with the laser making all its noise while loading, if that were quiet I wouldnt know what to think!

The Dreamcast was the only system I ever bought at launch as well as the only item i've ever pawned.
Fall of 2000 I was short on cash and two weeks from payday, and the DC was all I owned of value that I could temporarily part with. Gave up the console, controller, cords, and Sonic Adventure (they were not getting my VMU!) for a $65 loan. Got it back two weeks later, and it's not left my possession since.
Still play it regularly, though it mostly serves as an NES/Gameboy/Mater System/Game Gear emulator now.

My US Dreamcast made an odd noise for a while when it was on, like a really loud humming noise, it turned out to be a fan and my friend fixed it for me.
Now I can hear the laser moving way too clearly and I wish I had a humming noise back

Most people that hear my Dreamcast for the first time ask if the console is broken...

I think someone here once bought a dreamcast and made a thread asking about the loud noises and what was wrong with it.
Everyone had to explain that no, that's just how the thing sounds.

Was talking about how loud Dreamcasts were today. My new one was surprisingly quiet, and I thought it was broken at first. It reads burnt discs extremely fast, and isn't nearly as loud as my other two Dreamcasts.
This is now my primary DC, and I'm hoping it can last a while.
