't kindda feels as if though Racketboy went Current-gen
(which no doubt will attract new-comers)

:edit

with that I mean that it's much more stylish, for better or for worse

I REALLY like having most recent posts on the front page as opposed to newest threads.

Any chance of getting it back to black?
I'll work on tweaking some forum code in a week or two.
These last few weeks have been insane. Somehow a few huge items all ended up on my to-do list at the same time (I hate the beginning of the year)
Take your time Racket, nothing is that pressing in my opinion. Who said it had to be completely done and perfect in one shot. I think it looks great for now, you have some feedback, you can tweak a tad here and there if you want, but is anyone really going to leave the site if it is left as it is? I am sure we are all happy the site still exists and pleased it is smoother and better looking than ever. Not to mention it still has a great crew and awesome content and is still free. It's your house, you can clean up if you want, if we want to come over and play video games on your awesome retro systems we can deal with it.

I agree, I like new rather than active. Racket, now that you've taken away the "New Topics" menu from the front page, is there any way in the forums to view them? I know you can look at "New Posts" but I just want to see new topics. If there is no longer any way to do this could it be added to the wish list? Thanks.
See, before everyone complained that they didn't like the New topics because they fell off too quickly and most of the best ones weren't showing.

And like I mentioned earlier, I had both of them displayed on the front page during testing and there were usually a lot of duplicates, and in turn, redundant/wasted space.

I don't think there's a perfect solution. I can see if I can figure out a way to have a link to newest posts on the forum header/toolbar...
I agree. Seems that people would feel they have to create a new topic so they can get it on the front page. Having active topics instead of new topics on the front page is definitely a good idea. However, I realized that I do miss the ability to view new topics. If we could get a link to view just new topics, maybe on the forum toolbar like you mentioned, that would be great. :D

FORUM PAGE
Adding View New Topics in the "View unanswered-active-new posts-your posts" Forum Toolbar a good idea to allow another option for individual selection.

FRONT PAGE
Active Forum Topics looks clean now, beautiful! A curiosity, why does it take so long for an added Reply to bump a thread to the Front Page?

Wordpress caches the front page so it's not constantly hitting the server to look everything up. It refreshes every so often....

I kind of prefer the old, more compact look more.

Unfortunately, Racketboy loads far, far slower for me now with the new design. It's like Kotaku or Joystiq. Sometimes it takes literally 2 to 3 minutes for a page to load, and I can't get any pages except the boards to load at all. I'd like to either have the option to use the old site layout, or just some way to load a more basic version of the site, because these loading times are awful.

It's been this slow for me as well. I doubt it has to do with the site design.
