For fighting we could do a King of Fighters game. Games in the series have been on Neo Geo, Neo Geo pocket, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Wii, XBox, PS3, 360, GBA and Virtual Console.

Alternatively we could play Guilty Gear, which has been on quite a few consoles too.

Or we could go for the dead or alive series, which has been on ps1,ps2, xbox, dreamcast and saturn (japan only apparently). Theres a dead or alive game due out on 3DS next year too.

Or we could even go for Bloody Roar, which has been on playstation, playstation 2, gamecube and xbox. It'd be an interesting choice, not one of the normal choices.

I'd be alright with Deus Ex for a fps, if I remember right it doesn't have much problem running on modern systems. I've had a lot of issues running other games from that time period n my computer.
Otherwise a older game could be fun. I think everyone has played Doom and Wolfenstein at some point, and personally I don't think that Duke 3d hold ups. So my suggestion would be something like Catacombs 3d for a old game, or Rise of the Triad for a newer one.
Dark Forces would be fun too, but it just doesn't do anything for me. I'd rather play some of the weird Duke 3d engine based games like NAM or Redneck Rampage than another Star Wars game.

Oh hey what's going on in this thread. We're talking about titles now. Awesome! I like the looks of the list. I'll be looking forward to April. I haven't really given any of the MacVenture games a serious go yet.

So what's still under debate... FPS. Faceball/Midimaze is a nice idea, but you have to play it multiplayer to get the full effect. Any of DSH's other suggestions would be fine with me.

RPG. I hadn't heard of Riviera, and looking at it I'm going to have to play it anyway. If we go JRPG, I'd lean that way. For WRPGs it looks like M&MII is a pretty good choice. After reading this review I'd be pretty excited to try it.

I could rattle off a couple more candidates for WRPGs. Eye of the Beholder (SNES/SegaCD), Dungeon Master (SNES/TG16CD), Pool of Radiance (NES), Bard's Tale (NES), Ultima IV (NES/SMS). All of these have ports on DOS and several other classic computers too.

The rest of the list looks great as is.

It hasnt been mentioned in a while, some i'm just gonna resuggest Shining Force for strategy. Its been ported all over the place and is cheap and widely available in every region. Its also meant to be pretty good. :D

As for FPS, I think Dark Forces looks interesting. I didn't realise there WERE games before the jedi knight games, so it'll be interesting to see what did or didn't change.

I'm fine with riviera if I can get a copy shipped to me for a reasonable price.

Puyo Puyo, puzzle league, columns or zoop seem OK options for puzzle tbh, all of them are good.

Otherwise, I'm fine with the original options. I can't buy the baseball game, but i'd likely sit out the baseball month even if I could.

Perhaps scoundrels have conspired to prevent his commenting?

I definitely think King of Fighters is a good choice for the fighting game choice. Guilty gear is on a lot of systems but it's much more difficult to emulate or purchase - and some of the Guilty Gear games are REALLY expensive.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
