I know that, but a lot of hyped games have held up quite well to me recently (jet set radio, Ico) and so maybe I got a bit too optimistic about this one. I never expect a game fully live up to the hype, but I like it when they doAppleQueso wrote:alienjesus's problem is that he bought too much into the hype. Don't do that, you'll always be disappointed if you're expecting to be completely blown away by something.

Re: Snickerd00dle's summer game challenge
Even though I had nice things to say earlier about Nights, I eventually got fed up with the game and didn't finish it. Considering I slogged through a few others on my list that I didn't care for either, that's saying something. I just found that the disoreintation coupled with the poorly aged 3D graphics of some of the later levels killed any fun I could have with it. Maybe I'll dig the Wii version more - but I played about 2/3 of the way through the Saturn version and just quit.
Either way, I now know where I stand on the game which is the point of this challenge. I'm going to get going with something else from my list here soon...is anyone else (including Snickerdoodle) still marching along?

Wow that's a sweet list of games to conquer. Some pretty hard games in there too, methinks....And on a side note, Snickerd00dle: whenever I see your username on the board I get hungry for chocolate. That is all. Carry on.Snickerd00dle wrote:Alright, so I recently finished my first year of college and it is my first summer back home. Between work and maybe going out a few nights of the week, all my time is devoted to gaming, so this summer, what I thought I would do is pick ten games that I own and have never beat, that are regarded as classics by most people and are also games that I really wish I had played through, games everyone talks about that I never ended up finishing, and beat all ten of them by the end of the summer. I thought this would be a cool experience to share with you guys because many of you have likely beaten these games and might have info to share with me about the games or easter eggs and or hints...anyone who wants to do this as well please join, it would be cool to discuss this as I venture onward. SO!! the ten games I have chosen for the summer are in no particular order-
1.) Ico
2.) Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
3.) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
4.) Donkey Kong Country
5.) Contra
6.) Final Fantasy VII
7.) Sonic 3
8.) Spyro the Dragon
9.) Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
10.) Earthbound
I will update this regularly with my progress in the games- I will most likely get started playing KOTOR soonLet me know what you think

Re: Snickerd00dle's summer game challenge
I have failed so miserably to complete this by the end of the summer, when I started the list, I was getting very few hours at work, now I'm in almost every day, so HOPEFULLY I will keep this going till the end of 2010, I let myself down in some regards but, I gotta work
I will be starting up school soon, and working less so I usually play more games during this part of the year, lets hope I can do it!!!
and to IFeelAsleep, Snickerd00dle has been an internet/gamertag name for a while, I use it because Snickerdoodle's are the only cookie I like

Re: Snickerd00dle's summer game challenge
My list has changed since I originally made it, mainly because I preordered Metroid: The Other M and had the Metroid bugSpaceBooger wrote:I just bit the bullet and got a complete copy of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night from Goozex, and started playing it last night.
So, I'm in.
My list:
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (already playing)
Final Fantasy X (already playing)
Batman: AA (PC)
and
Marvel Super-Heroes: War of the Gems
So far I have beat:
Castlevania: SOTN
Metroid Zero Mission
Super Metriod
and since I have one more week of Summer I plan on getting Metriod Fusion and possibly Marvel Super-Heroes: War of the Gems beat.

Re: Snickerd00dle's summer game challenge
So did anyone here ever finish this? I'm still chugging at my marathon (only have V,W,X,Y and Z left). It'd be a shame if you all managed to not get around to all these great games again :p
Re: Snickerd00dle's summer game challenge
I did not. I actually found that I didn't like most of the ones I had been putting off (Ico, SOTN, Oddworld, Nights, etc.). It kinda lowered my incentive to play others...alienjesus wrote:So did anyone here ever finish this? I'm still chugging at my marathon (only have V,W,X,Y and Z left). I didn't stick to my list either. Instead I beat SOTN, Metroid Zero Mission, Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, and Bionic Commando Rearmed.alienjesus wrote:So did anyone here ever finish this? So it wasn't a bad summer and even though I didn't stick to my list, I did have a theme.
Re: Snickerd00dle's summer game challenge
Shouldn't this of been a winter game challenge?
Who wants to spend the whole summer inside? Especially after your first year of college?

I have two kids (one and two years old) so evenings I was stuck at home. I worked outside mountain biking and teaching water-skiing. So it was the best of both worlds for me.the King wrote:Shouldn't this of been a winter game challenge?
